Do you have to purchase Memory Maker in order to get pictures taken by the PhotoPass photographers?
I had read somewhere (I think) that PhotoPass was a complimentary service offered by WDW and that they can link photos to your Magic Band/MDE account? Is that still true? Seems too good to be true.

What about at character meets? If you don't have Memory Maker, what do you do? Will a photographer still take your picture, or do you have to get another member of your group to take it? What if you're solo? Does/will the photographer use your camera to take a picture?

The photographers have no idea if you have Memory Maker or not. You can still have your photo taken by the Photopass photographer and they'll show up in your MDE account with a watermark. You can purchase individual photos through your account. And the photographers will definitely take photos with your camera if you ask, too :)

No, you don't need to purchase Memory Maker to have your pictures taken by a Photopass Photographer. They will take your picture and scan your Magic Band. Your photos will show up in your MDE account. You can either buy the pictures individually or you can purchase the Memory Maker if you want all the pictures that show in your account. Any rides that take photos will also show in your account. There are Photopass people at all the character meet and greets who will take your picture, you can also have someone use your camera and take your own if you wish.

Do you need to have a package reservation (resort and tix) in order to purchase Memory Maker?

I'm unsure of the Photopass benefits with the Gold Annual Pass. Will I still need to pay for each picture I would like individually?

We are taking our first multi-family trip in June. Since we won't all be together every minute of the day, I want us to share a Memory Maker account. As long as we are all linked on MDE, should only 1 person have to purchase the Memory Maker?

Last May, my daughter bought the Memory Maker account. The seven of us were linked in MDE. All the pictures went to her account and she was able to download all of them. It is a perfect solution.

Each digital download costs $15 individually, so buying Memory Maker is a decent value if you like pictures or do character stuff. We've been here two days and probably have 100 pictures so far.

Since we bought the package, we are more aware of the photo pass photograpers, but it only takes a couple minutes to get a few pics. We have some cute magic shots with our kids.

No. Annual pass photopass is better than Memory Maker (pictures don't expire for 1 year). You don't have to pay for any picture (it won't even be an option).

Yes, just make sure everyone edits their photos (adding borders, etc) under the account with the memory maker entitlement.
