Please explain about complimentry upgrades

Has anyone ever reserved GV concierge and asked for a free upgrade to LV concierge ? Was it granted?
Do you ask Concierge when you email them? When you get there?
I have never asked for a upgrade for free and have no idea how to go about it. I hate asking for anything FREE! But I really want to make this trip special for my daughter and niece . I have stretched my Disney dollar about as far as I can this yr switching from GV to GVC. Any help is appreciated.

You can alwaythere is an available room you'll probably get it.

Keep in mind that the room you are moved to could be either not a very nice view even though it is a lagoon view (ie has trees in the way of the view) or might be handicapped accessible with no tub, just a roll-in shower, or something like that.
