Hello! Arriving Wednesday and have heard rumor of the security system being different. Last time I went you had your bags searched by security standing at the head of long tables and then you went through a metal detector. People without bags just went through the metal detector. Is it really different now? How so?

Does temp screening come before or after security check?

Thanks!

Hi! I was there last week. You go through the metal detector WITH your bag. Temperature checks have been discontinued. Strollers and wheelchairs go through in a different area. It is SO much FASTER!

I wondered how security handled ECVs. It was very easy. Just watch for the handicap and strollers sign and enter security by that sign. The security cast member many times will wave at you so the ECV rider knows where to go. They will ask you whether you can walk. If so, they tell you where to park and you take your bag (including what you have in your basket) and walk thru the scanner. You can use your cane if you need to. They then tell you if all is okay and you get back on your ECV and you are ready to leave the security area. It is sooooo much better.

Leave your backpack on, but pull out your umbrella and sunglass case if it has a metal hinge and hold it at arms length in front of you. If you have a lot of camera equipment, expect to be pulled out for a bag check.

Temperature checks tents are still in place as of today. Checks are no longer being done at restaurants

I agree... and I believe park entry temp checks are in place until and including around May 16 for guests.

I thought there was an end date, but wasn’t sure when. Thank you. The AdventHealth workers have always been so nice.

If you have several things with quite a bit of metal, it is a good idea to put them in a gallon ziplock when you pack your park bag. You can easily pull it out to hold in front of you.

If in doubt of the metal triggering a beep, just put it in a Ziplock bag before going to the park. Pull it out before going through the metal detector and save yourself any hassle.

They will tell you as you approach what to do with phone - either leave it in pocket or hold it out.

So much nicer than the bag check days.

Hope all your planning creates a great trip.

This is what I do.

I hold this bag and my umbrella well out in front of my body as I walk through the scanner.

Security seems to really appreciate this.

Before I started doing this,I always got sent to the table for further screening.

SO much easier!

I put ANYTHING "questionable" in the ziplock before approaching the Checkpoint-Phone/earbuds case/eyeglass case/chargers/keys,etc.

I treat it like going through TSA at the airport-except for the belt and shoes!lol :)

Going through the scanner, I left my backpack on, took out the umbrella, camera and battery backup and held them out in front of me and never got stopped. had I left the camera in my bag, I'm sure I would have been stopped. Forgot to take the umbrella out once and got stopped for a search. Even that was much faster than in the past.
The new system is so much better.

I do the same. I put my umbrella, Yeti cup and phone charger in the plastic bag. I leave my phone, keys and small camera in my backpack and that seems to work so far.
