I've only got a little amount of time to book my skyauctions resorts. And I really need your help in choosing between these resorts. My dates are Nov 25to Dec 12 (give or take a few days either side). I can get a 2 bedroom for 2 weeks at either but can't enough info to do a good comparison on the stuff I need in a resort.
Background info:
Offsite-WDW Resorts that I've stayed at in Orlando- and what liked/hated:
Sheraton Vistana Resorts- loved it (8/10)- hated no Hispeed in room (2003)
Vacation Villas @ Parkway- loved it 7/10- hated hi rise and lack of security
Silver Lake (2brd-not points)- ok 5/10 - hated all the mirrors everywhere

What's important in a resort for me, in this order:

1) NO MOLD- extreme mold allergies
2) close to WDW
3) Hi speed "free" internet in room
4) Good security or gated resort (this is Kissimmee after all)
5) Clean & well appointed rooms (would like Jacuzzi tub)

I'd prefer not to have to move during those 2 weeks. Please help me decide! Thanks!

Neither has high speed access, AFAIK. OO is closer to the parks. CP has generally better reviews. Neither is great, and neither is awful.

Both have generally good reputations for maint though I haven't stayed at Orbit One. Cypress Palms is newer.

I don't think either resort is gated. We did see security doing rounds at CP in the evening and the resort is ~1 block back from 192 so it seems quiet. The grounds were well lit. The 24-hour lobby/office is at one end of this rather mid-sized-to-smaller resort and the recreation building is at the other end, so it seemed like there was an adequate staff presence, walking around and riding in golf carts. The 2BRs at CP are spacious with all the nice features, like inroom washer/dryer and an oversized jacuzzi tub w/separate large shower off the MBR. It was very clean on our visit. We were so pleased with our stay, we plan to return this winter, bringing along another family with us.

Regardless of whether a resort is gated or not, stuff happens in tourist areas, even at the big name places. Don't leave your door ajar, be aware of your surroundings, stop at the lobby and request an escort if returning late at night alone... all the usual precautions, no matter where you are. And have a great time!

Having stayed at both, I would choose Cypress....more up to date. However, we enjoyed our stay at Orbit and had no problems. I don't think you can go wrong at either one:cool2:

just wanted to mention that when we stayed at Cypress Palms in the spring of this year, at check-in we were given an info. sheet regarding watching your GPS system closely (I think it said to remove it) since they were being stolen in the night. We didn't have a rental car so didn't really pay any attention to it.

Needless to say, that was our second week long visit at this resort and we felt safe there. There isn't much of a security presence but you do see maintemance workers and the occasional security guard driving around on golf carts.

We just had the large one bedroom unit both visits but did manage to look at a two bedroom dedicated unit. It looked really nice. The two bedroom lock-out unit (the small one bedroom and the large one bedroom combined) was nice to but for a family we would definately prefer the two bedroom dedicated. btw, the two bedroom units offer a really niced sized screened in patio.
