Some time ago (more than a couple weeks ago), I traded with a person on the other site. The trade was me giving him a tent room code for a pirate stool and stick.
That night right after the trade, he received the code and then said that it worked. He then left his room (where we traded) and then came back while I stayed there. Then a CL came in the room (can't remember who she was) and the three of us were talking. After he came back, I said that it was good that the code worked but if for some reason it didn't, I had another one. He then stated that the code did not work and wanted another code. I said no because he said that the code worked.

Also, that night in the trade window, he kept trying to get me to agree to let him "borrow" his stool back once a week and acting like he wouldn't go thru with the trade if I didn't agree. I refused.

So finally, tonight (weeks later), he comes up to me while standing at the JC dock and wants to trade. I opened the trade window and he said that the code did not work and that he wanted another one. He said that he was kidding when he said that the code worked.

I said no and closed the window. He then send's me a pm stating: i want a tent room code!! i will give u 2 vmk accounts!! and tell u how to make upside down ?'s.

I promptly told him no and that trading accounts is against vmk rules and that this sounds more like a scam.

He then sends me another pm saying: FINE!!!!! 1.this is not a scam!!!! 2.i am have the worst bday!! 3.i am mad at my self!!
so can i have a code for a tent room code or my chair back!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!


So what do you all think? Do you think he's trying to scam me into giving him another code?

Yes and I would just tell him you no longer have the code because you traded it.

I believe you did the right thing. I also think that you might want to get to learn that "Ignore" button. Then he won't be able to harass you anymore. My last suggestion would be that anytime your on VMK search his name and see if you can find his tent room!

If VMK tells you the code's already been used, then that means he's probably lying, because he's probably the one who used it.

If VMK tells you the code's not recognized, then he's telling the truth.

And if VMK accepts the code and gives you the tent room, then that means he didn't type the code correctly, and now it's no good anymore 'cos you have a tent room, and you may as well give him back his stuff!

Actually, if you type in a code that has already been used, you get the " this code does not match anything, try again" message. It doesn't ever tell you that the code has been used. At least in my experience.

However, if you type in the code and it gives you the tent room, well then sure you should give him back his stuff, since he obviously didn't get the room. Sometimes the codes on the cards don't work the first time, don't ask me why. I have had that happen when trading a herbie code and when giving out a gold ears code.

It sounds to me like the player is having a bad day. Maybe something is going on in real life that is causing a lot of distress or frustration. Do you have it in you to give TLC? if not, just use the ignore button.

That is true however If she gave the code and she is sure it is the same. If she puts it in and gets a tent room that doesn't mean he wasn't trying to scam her. Also it is possible he put the code in and sold it on purpose or accidental. If she gets the tent she would be obligated to give it back If she doesn't he is harassing her and needs report. If I got the wrong code or bad code I would 1. try many, many times to make it work 2. except it as my bad for trading in this fashion, not try to cook something up for the other player in the trade. It's life move on. But after time you will have to try the code because of couriosity.

i think you did the right thing by saying no and i think this is a scam. i have came across lots of scams and i have heard this one before.. so i think you did the right thing and just ignore him if he comes up to you again.

I'm a major trader on VMK. I know every way to trade and how to avoid scams. 1.Ignore.2.Boot them from your room.3.Tell them they need to leave you alone or you will report.
If those don't help, your on your own. Mal's advice is very good. I've done that before also but sometimes it does not work. And about codes, YOU could find out if the person was lying or not.One way is to type in the code itself. The other way is to search for the room. (Both said before).You could also delete this person from your list. They sound like they are just trying to scam you out of everything you own. It's more than likely some little kid who wants to have something rare. But, he may have been greedy and sold the tent room himself. Aka, he meant to. But if he didn't, you should not trade him again or give him his stuff back. It's a lesson to be learned. Even if he didn;t mean to sell it. That goes for all your disers.

Oh, I love how at the end of this, he's asking you for the tent room code
AND all his stuff back! Nice.

The kicker for me is that he was "joking" about a code working. Why would
a player joke about that when they traded away their stuff expecting the
code to work? Not kosher, IMHO.

Instead of the Help tool to report a harrassing player, use the "Contact Us"
feature about the player. Explain that you believe the player has a tent
code and is trying to scam you out of another one. It couldn't hurt.

This is why I don't trade codes.I trade for codes,hence why I have a Pirate Prison room(thanks clydeguy).

I asked him for the code first.I tried it,it worked.So then I traded my soldier to him.

You did the right thing, he was probably just thinking that asking you for another code would be an easy trade. It's defientaly a scam.

Yeah the fact he was joking was an obvious scam tool! But i loved that he would trade you two more accounts!!! That's one i've never heard being offered! Totally listen to Mal on this one!

And most ppl that don't have a code work would threaten to report! He just whined and demanded another!

It just seemed strange to me how he first said that the code worked. Then only after I said that I had another did he say that it didn't work.

A person in a trade would not joke about something like that. They would immediately want their stuff back or another code. And if he had said at first that it didn't work, I would have given him another one.

I've now taken him off my friends list and put him on my ignore list on the other site. And thanks for not deleting my original post.

The other site deleted my original post even though I never once stated who it was.

I have since tried the code that I gave him and of course, it didn't work. But that does not mean that it didn't work for him. I also think it was funny how right after he received the code, he left the room and then came back and said that he needed to furnish the new room now.

I've also since tried looking for him in his rooms and have not found him. Even when I know he's online.

So thanks for your opinions. I value them greatly.

You did do the right thing; it's just a bit too conidental that his code didn't work when you said you had another.

I would probably done what you did, maybe even report him a couple of times.
