Please clarify this CSR refillable mug, generic or just their own at the pool?

What does the sign say at the resort food court, where you purchase the mug? AFAIK it still restricts usage to the resort purchased. In fact the phrase "our Resort beverage island station" says just that. It doesn't say any resort beverage island.

The fact that Disney standardized the design suggests they don't care.

No different then resort parking. Disney only gives out timed parking passes, at MK resorts, when parking is tight. The rest of the time Disney doesn't care.

However as it has been said before, the YOAMD mugs do not say they can only be used at the Resort where you purchased them like the old ones. The new ones say good at our Resort beverage island stations, so this time WDW is not restricting them to be used at one location.

I guess a small portion of the answer is do the signs say station or stations? I'm still inclined to go with Disney's policy of length-of-stay, and if I go to resorts (during a split stay) that both use YOMD, I'm thinking that's OK.

Otherwise, the CSR question is still confusing. I totally admit that I sometimes worry too much about stuff, which is why I ended up just not getting the mug.

Resorts have multiple refill stations. The fact that Disney standardized the mugs suggests Disney doesn't care.

CSR isn't really confusing. Buy a CSR mug and you get free refills. There isn't any sign that suggests guests can use anything but a CSR mug.

sorry double post.
See post below:

For some reason I just bought the AKL mug with their logo on it and I really cannot see buying 6 more mugs.

Sorry, but your AKL mug is no longer good at any of the resorts not even AKL.
For the last several years the refillable mugs have only been good for 1 stay. Once that vacation was over the mug was no longer any good.
Some guests brought them back anyway . Either because they were unaware of the policy or they did not care.

The difference now is the YOMD is dated with the year and it is easliy reconizable if the guest is using an old mug..

Just my 2 cents.

Have fun at Disney!

I don't think the signage has changed, mugs are only supposed to be used at the resort where you purchased it. The fact that the mugs have been standardized would suggest Disney doesn't care.

OP here.
Respectfully, that is not true. The new generic resort mugs can be used at all the disney resorts. Back to my original question, can the generic mug be used at the CSR POOL, since all they sell there is their own CSR mug, not a generic one?

There must be someone that just got back that had this kind of mug at the pool?

I doubt it. CSR is not owned by WDW and that is the reason they sell their own mugs.

wow, really, I did not know that. Is it like the Dolphin/Swan, do you know who owns it? It sure is taken care of "Disney like" in the pics, so pretty. Anyway, I still would like to hear from folks just getting back and whether they refilled the generic ones at the pool or not, maybe they still allow it, who knows.

I'm sorry, I meant to say the Pepper Market and Maya Grill are not run by WDW. CSR is owned by WDW.

I just returned from CSR, but did not bring a mug to the pool so can't answer your question.

I bought a Pepper Market mug, but a couple of times forgot and brought my generic one - purchased a few days earlier at Pop - instead to Pepper Market. No one stopped me, for whatever that's worth, but I felt uncomfortable doing it. In walking by other tables, I saw only one person using a generic mug.

I agree that whatever the stated rule is on the generic mugs, that Disney must not really care if you buy one at Pop and use it at All-Stars, or they would customize them. They are stamped 2007, which indicates to me that they don't want you using them at a future stay in 2008.

buzz, we stayed at csr during june(thanks for the info, we loved this resort). we purchased the mugs at conv. store near pepper mkt. these were coronada springs peper market mugs. did not have generic for purchase. we used them our entire stay for morning coffee and only once at dig site pool.
i wouldnt think about taking them back another trip. i have seen other places use the scannable bar code, which i think is a good idea. lets be real, resorts need to be profitable and the mugs should only be used during that stay at that resort. would be nice to have them in the parks(like water parks).:coffee:

I actually think the mugs say 2007 because YOAMD was to end on January 1st, 2008. However it got extended after they were already being sold. So I would assume when it's 2008 they will come out with new mugs on them that say 2008.

No problem. I did know that. I thought that was strange that CSR isn't Disney run...it has that unique Disney beauty that is unmistakable. Something about the Dolphin says "not Disney", too blah. Anyway, I called the resort itself a few minutes ago to see if I could get the official word. They connected me to the pool, got the lifeguard and he was polite but none to happy to hear from me about mugs!!:rolleyes1 oops. He gave me the extention to the bar, but can't do that from home. I called back and got the run around, so finally gave up. So now I"m back to my Dis buddies:cool2: .

Back to the discussion.:)

You gave it a great try! I really do appreciate this thread. I was confused this past summer, and though I was the only one. I hope you do have eventually get an answer. More importantly, have a wonderful vacation!

The fact that the mugs are standardized indicates Disney can't easily enforce, and probably doesn't care, the policy limiting refills to the resort where you purchased the mug.

The language still indicates the mugs can only be refilled at the resort you purchased it at. The following is from All Ears

The mugs used to have the hotel logo on them however they seem to be changing to the Year of a Million Dreams mugs. Also, a sign states that the mugs are for use at that hotel for the duration of your visit.

The fact that CSR isn't using the generic mugs would suggest they do care about the guests filling mugs purchased at other resorts.

the policy limiting refills to the resort where you purchased the mug.
I have to disagree with you about that. On the old Resort mugs the policy written on them was "Good for length of stay at Resort where the mug was purchased." The policy written on the YOAMD mug says "Free refills at our Resort Beverage Island Stations, until the end of you're stay." So when WDW says the sentence our Resort Beverage Island Stations, I say they are referring to all them and not just at the Resort where the mug was purchased.
