We were supposed to leave today for a week at WDW but we cancelled the trip so we could pay off our credit card debt by Summer. I know at least 7 families that are leaving today and tomorrow for WDW and it breaks my heart that we aren't going. We do have a cruise planned for September but I was really looking forward to WDW this week too.

I know you will all help me feel better that I made a responsible decision to pay off the credit cards instead of going to WDW and getting further into debt. :goodvibes

Congratulations! It is disappointing when others get to have fun. However, you are demonstrating maturity-something that will stand you in good steed for the rest of your lives.Good for you!!!

Awesome and wise choice, hooray for you! We had to move from February to September, so I completely understand, our original departure date was awful. But, now, I still have WDW to look forward to, instead of looking back at it!:)

GOOD FOR YOU!!!! Is there any chance you can make a quick trip down to Indy instead? Our children's museum is amazing!

Now head over to the cruise board and get to work on planning all the amazing experiences you're going to have on that cruise in your signature!!! (Or heck, tell us, we're game!)

Being a "grown-up" is HARD!!! You absolutely did the responsible thing by realizing that you needed to pay off that credit card debt. Once you SAVE UP the money for the WDW trip, and you get there and you know it's totally paid for...well, that will be an incredibly awesome feeling and you will be so very glad you waited.

Wallow in your disappointment for a couple of minutes...then pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and hold your head high that you are doing the right thing! The next trip, when you are able to go, will feel sooo much better knowing that you have the debt paid off, and think of how much more you will enjoy it without that hanging over you. Congratulations to you!

Oh my gosh...what a tremendous weight you will have off of your shoulders!!!
:goodvibes

I think you made an incredibly good decision. You might not be going this year, but there is always a future trip to be had! Beside, look at all the construction at the MK right now... it will be complete by the time you get to go!!!

I completely know-how you feel we were supposed go away in December and chose to cancel to pay off debt.
You did the right thing! I know it feels awful right now but having no debt will feel even better!

But you still get to cruise :cool1: that is awesome so don't stay down in the dumps too long. September will be here before you know it :thumbsup2

Hey! I'm right there with you...just cancelled our first Xmas/NYE WDW trip in order to get our ducks in a row...it IS disappointing, especially when you log onto Facebook and see all your friends WDW pictures that they post the second after they get off of Splash Mountain or BTMRR!

Heck, I got a little teary when I saw a pic of one of my friends kids getting onto Aladdin's Magic Carpet Ride--now THAT is missing WDW!

But you are doing the right thing. I know we are, too. Sometimes it is a bummer to be responsible, but it will be there for next time. And the longer you wait to go the more construction they get finished and more *NEW* things to experience!!

Good for you for putting on your big girl panties. WDW will still be there once your debt is paid off! :thumbsup2

All I can say is Good For You! :thumbsup2

Do a small thing for yourself now, some little perk that will boost your
morale...even if it's eating some special dessert...like chocolate?:)

However, focus on your September cruise... that's worth looking forward to.

This week will be over before you know it. Sometimes the fun is in the
anticipation, cause it goes by so quickly. ;)

Good for you! And how exciting to be able to look forward to Disney Cruise in Sept. If we go to WDW this year it won't be until late Sept. so it's pretty far off for us. Luckily for me we are in Disneyland's backyard and have AP-we may be going tomorrow, or Monday. DD11 started 2 week spring break today.

I wish I could afford a Disney Cruise but it's not in the cards right now. I would lave to take DD11 while she is still young enough to want to hang out with her mom!

You totally did the right thing.
Never go in debt for a vacation. Especially when you already have debt. Time passes quickly. I hope you enjoy your cruise and can go to Disney next year with peace of mind that you don't need the money for something else.

Ask yourself the magic question...am I going to be worried about this in six months? Probably not, cause you'll be on a cruise. I often have to ask myself that question so I can give myself some perspective.

Cheer up warmer weather is on the horizon...think about fun things to do this week back home.

I have only been to WDW once. We dont have debt but we have one income right now. `Look at it this way by the time you get to go you will be out of debt. And the ones who are still going may be in debt and gone into debt to go. If they are they come back owing on the debt. You on the other hand will be debt free. I hear so many people complain about being in debt and continue to charge their vacations creating more debt. Some people will never learn. I would rather take a short vacation for a minimal amount of money than going into debt to do it. So in the mean time create some disney magic at home for everyone. Make some favorite dishes of food that you would eat from disney and watch some movies and enjoy your family. I may never get to WDW again but I have all my pics to remind me.

Do not for one minute feel bad! Even though that is hard to do. You so did the right thing! Think of how fabulous it is going to feel being debt free! Concentrate on that and your cruise will give you something to look forward to and celebrate that!

It's an awesome feeling to be debt free! So, when you are basking in that mental vacation of being debt free this summer, your friends who are going to Disney may not be doing the same.

So, Good For You!

Yay for you!!!:cheer2: I've had to cancel a Disney trip too and it is no fun.But what is fun is going when you aren't worried about how you are going to pay the bills when you get home. Be proud of yourself for making the sacrifice now and REALLY enjoy your cruise. :)

You guys are great!!!! I KNEW you'd all cheer me up! I know we made the right choice, but it's still depressing.

I don't even get to take the week off (let alone just one day during the week) to spend with the rest of my family that is on Spring Break. And DH has a project he's working on at home so I don't know if he'll even take the kids anywhere to have fun throughout the week! :sad2: All I have to say is he better FINISH the project. And if he doesn't do something fun with them, then maybe I'll do something fun with them next weekend. We'll see how it all plays out.

Thanks again for all your encouraging posts!!!! :goodvibes :thumbsup2

And to those of you who have had to cancel vacations, I'm sorry...and at least you know you're not alone!

I'm sure if you take DD11 on a cruise, she'll want to hang out with you no matter how old she is.
