Yesterday I arrived at MK parking around 5:30 pm and was hoping the attendants were gone for the day… Unfortunately the guided spot was way past that second tree line..I normally get just before the first tree line …but this is ridiculous! It’s great for exercise but that tarred ground in Orlando sunshine reflects dangerous heat. I am surprised they do not have cast patrolling on the golf carts in case of emergency need…
I was also surprised last night as I walked from the MK to the GF . I did not notice an occasional emergency phone box the entire path… Iknow everybody has a cellphone but that is not going to help in all possibilities… Disney has this in the DS Parking Garages and many security/ cast circling the levels on golf carts frequently… I assume they are for Security and guest assistance… ?

They still haven't restarted the trams? That's a shame. Was there in 100+ degree heat back in May. The heat radiating off the macadam was awful. Hope they bring 'em back soon!

It has been torture to ”see” those trams just sitting for over a year in the parking lots… Hopefully they have occasionally moved them to avoid mold issues and detioration over this Unprecedented Covid times.
My auto was driven once weekly and had to replace all tires in December because of this.
Maybe with the return of college program cast , the trams will return also!

Since it is Disney, I can totally see a reasonable number of people walking back to the their cars with a dead phone.
Good point…Sometimes Disney over protects and under protects…then creates more issues.
You don’t want to know How lax the security is overnight with service delivery and independent construction workers constantly driving back of property !!! And yet we the registered guest must endure unannounced security intrusions every day in our Resort Rooms.
!!!
I have a theory that Disney has not been at risk because those that do harm need a safe place to send their children on vacation! Joking but not funny

I hope they bring them back by December.
We’ll pay for premium parking if we have to but I’d love the trams to come back. Not just to save money but the tram is a fun little first ride of the day.

You need to write to Disney with this feedback – or, better yet, go to Guest Relations in person and tell them why you want the trams back! They need to hear from people directly about this.

Preferred parking. Seriously. Life is too short to waste it walking around in their giant lots.
We've never done the preferred parking. Is there usually availability? We are not rope droppers and would probably arrive around 10:00AM or so.

Its probably a resource issue. They can't hire people.
We were at the bus stop at EPCOT two weeks ago, speaking to a very nice bus driver who was just standing around answering questions.
He said that he started a couple months ago, but can't drive because they are low on trainers and he can't get trained. Crazy huh.

If only I were closer to retirement, I would certainly drive a tram..

We parked in preferred parking daily during Memorial Day week, and there was plenty of availability, even late in the morning a couple of hours after park opening.

I watched a vlog on YouTube about a new college program employee working in parking. They mentioned training and a certain vest they have to wear over their uniform while operating the tram, 🤞 it returns sooner than later!

There was a situation today at Port Everglades in Ft. Lauderdale where rescue had to treat a number of people who got stuck outside for an extended period waiting to board a cruise ship. Walking a mile in from your parking space is the same threat, except with more exertion than just standing.

That said, new Covid cases have spiked dramatically in Florida in recent weeks. We were averaging13,000-14,000 new cases per week. Last week we had 110,000! So that will surely influence Disney's decisions on many things in coming weeks.

But how many were hospitalized? And what percentage of the hospital beds that are filled are from COVID paitents? Those are the important numbers and the ones Disney is more likely to watch.

Local news has been saying that hospitals in the Orlando area are reporting the number of COVID patients hospitalized is higher now than at any previous time.

From Wednesday morning's Orlando Sentinel:

On Friday, AdventHealth shifted to a “code black” canceling non-emergency procedures after seeing a record 1,600 patients, and epidemiologist Vincent Hsu said its Central Florida division hasn’t yet reached its peak in terms of patients.
Hospitals in Jacksonville, Miami, Tampa and Tallahassee are also reporting a surge in COVID-19 hospitalizations, and DeSantis has been urged by local leaders and hospital officials to do more, including the president of the Duval County Medical Society Foundation, who called on DeSantis to issue a state of emergency.
