I was so happy when planning to find this hotel. The pictures looked nice and had 3 star reviews on the travel sites....NOT! Below is the email I sent to corporate, which outlines our troubles. We will be staying on site next time since we won't be going for 10 days again most likely. (BTW the rest of our trip was awesome!)

We will not ever stay here again. The hotel smelled musty, the internet was not "free" as the website leads one to believe. I had to work a little while on vacation, and was going to pay the outrageous fee per day to be able to stay in my room with my family and work, and noone, not even customer service, or the local customer service could get it to work. I spent most of my nights of vacation in the business center working until 2 am when I could have done a little in the morning and a little at night in my room. Our plush mickey doll was left on the desk across from the beds one morning, and upon returning it was found under the bed pushed in the middle against the wall...which seemed like someone was hoping we would forget and they would get it later when we checked out. Two days later, my daughter's $200 apple ipod touch was stolen from her suitcase. Needless to say, we won't be back. Complaints have been filed, with no updates to date.

The shuttle bus to the Disney parks is also a JOKE! The few mornings we actually used it, it arrived nearly full with people, to pick up another bus load of people at our hotel. I was traveling with an infant, so being sardined in a bus and made to stand, was not very fun. It was the same when returning. We finally gave up on the shuttle, and would walk 1 mi to/from Downtown Disney each day and night and catch their shuttles. Vacation? I think not. The sad part is...the was our first and ONLY family vacation ever. We were on the fifth floor...and for several days of our stay, we had to go to another floor just to get ice for our cooler...since we were NOT paying $10/day to have a fridge in our room...which is a NORMAL amenity for most hotels.

Hi Sorry to hear about your bad stay.. I have a question you said it was Orlando Vista correct?? Was it Bueana Vista Suites?? We are thinking of staying at the bueana vista one... thanks again

Orlando Vista hotel is not the same as Buena Vista Suites. Orlando Vista is the one with the Giant pinnapple, Buena Vista Suites is at 8203 World Center Drive.

Yikes..sorry to hear anout this. We were thinking of booking a kidsuite room here...guess we'll look elsewhere!

I don't know if a refrigerator in the room is a normal amenity but otherwise it sounds like you had some definite issues. I hope that you get some satisfaction from corporate.

 Sorry, I'm not sure how it could be your only family vacation ever but you are talking about staying on site next time?

But regardless, I'm very sorry to hear about the problems you had. I hope your next trip is smoother.

If I am correct, the way I read it was that the vacation they have just returned from is the only vacation they have taken as a family so far. Rather than being the only vacation they will ever take. But correct me if I am wrong OP!

Our first trip was disappointing and we had to move to another hotel after 3 nights because we too had been mis-sold accomodation thinking we were going somewhere beautiful when it was actually a dump. Fifteen years and fifteen trips later we now know where to avoid! We always try to help people we know are going for the first time as (especially when you are coming from the UK) it is easy to end up in shoddy accommodation. Glad to hear you haven't ben put off! For the record there are great places off-site too so don't be afraid to stay off-site again one day too. Oh, and always lock valuables like ipod's in the safe or have it on your person, it is just not worth taking a risk :sad2:! Hopefully next time will be more magical :wizard:.

HI there,

I would just like to say that after reading your post we or rather i ( my husband wasn't too fussed) decided to change our reservation at the orlando vista hotel. I just had this nagging feeling when i booked it that something was going to go wrong. So better to be safe than sorry. I don't want our vacation to the happiest place on earth to be spoiled with a not so great hotel especially when we are coming all the way from the Uk too.

Note to myself, stop being such a cheapskate!!:worried:

Only 4 weeks and 5 days to go :yay:

I am sorry you had a bad experience. I am not sure where you got the idea that a fridge in a room is a "NORMAL amenity for most hotels". It really isn't. Heck, even onsite Disney's value resorts do not provide a "free" fridge, you must pay per day for it...and it was $10, not sure if it still is.

Stayed here at the end of April for two nights. The price was cheap. The hotel was fairly clean. Our neighbors toilet overflowed and the water leaked into our room as well as all the way down to the hotel lobby. The hallways were loud at night and early in the morning. Bartender was nice and had been there for 30 years.

I'm sure this was a great hotel in its prime but those days are long gone. I'd say you get what you pay for at the Orlando Vista. Low price = Low quality...

That hotel used to be a DoubleTree. We are currently looking for a reasonable clean hotel. I was glad to read your post because we almost booked this one thinking it was still like it was when it was the doubletree.

This place is what it is... A cheap, older hotel with a colorful facade.

We stayed there one night and that was enough...

The rooms are old, the bathrooms tiny and outdated and the elevators (which I believe came over on The Mayflower  ) are slow and scary things... We saw two breakdowns in 12 hours.

On the upside, we found the staff to be *very* friendly (almost apologetic) and accommodating. If I ran a hotel nearby I would hire at least three of them right away.

The Internet connection was spotty at best. Had I been there for business I'm sure that would have been a concern.

Actually, having a fridge in rooms is extremely "Normal" these days. Even in the cheapest motel you are more likely than not to have a fridge. When we stay on property, we stay at the Pop and everytime I am surprised they are still charging extra for something any $40-$50 motel on Irlo Bronson includes.
