Please answer this Poll on Castaway Cay:

:goodvibes Been on three cruises, docked twice, third was not even an attempt due to Jeanne we could not come near it... So whatever that is....2 for 2 i guess...

Disney Wonder Dec 12-16 2004

Docked in CC no problem, weather was gorgeous, temp. in the mid to high 70s bright sun but cool water...that didn,t stop anyone from swimming... Managed to get a nice tan.

We are 4 for 4.

3 cruises in Late May/early June.

! in late December. But docking WAS delayed in December. We actually tied up to the dock about 1 p.m., so CC time was extremely limited.

We docked at CC during our Sept 19th Wonder cruise. Just wanted to add it was between Hurricanes Ivan & Jeanne. Beautiful sunny (read HOT) day! :sunny:

October 2000 Wonder docked at C.C. weather beautiful

June 2001 Magic docked at C.C. weather beautiful

June 2005 ?????

We cruised in Ocotober of 2001 and had perfect weather! However, the weather elsewhere was not that good and we were detoured. We got to go to Castaway Cay twice in our trip!!!! We stopped there on our first day and our last day! We had incredible weather both stops! I wouldn't trade our special cruise for anything! :sunny:

April 2000 - Made it to Castaway Cay
February 2001 - Made it to Castaway Cay
September 2001 - Made it to Castaway Cay
April 2003 - Made it to Castaway Cay

Weather nice all times.

We are 3 for 3 so far with docking at CC.

1) August 2003 sunny and hot (light winds)
2) August 2004 sunny and hot (light winds)
3) January 2005 sunny and warm (a bit breezy)

I cruised Sept. 27th to the 30th and we missed it dur to the hurricanes.

Please post and tell us whether you missed docking at Castaway Cay on your Disney Cruise and what month/weather conditions.

Thanks!

Karen

Went and docked Feb '01.
Went and docked March '03.
Went and docked Feb '05.

That being said, I don't think the info you'll get from here will give you any specific trends on whether or not you will be able to dock at CC in the future.

Suffice it to say you will dock FAR more often than you will not.

If you want more information that you may not get here, may I suggest you browse the Cruise Line Trip Reports on the other forum. There will be more dates for you to "fill in".

May 5, 2002--Wonder--great, warm, sunny weather, not enough wind to remember it.
January 10, 2003--Magic--maybe 70 degrees and partly cloudy, too cool to swim really but a pleasant day on the island.
January 16, 2005--Wonder--really freakin' Windy, probably in excess of 15-16 knots, but docked. Way too cold to swim, wind almost blew my tray over as I went from Cookies BBQ to my table, but we docked and DS enjoyed playing games in the game pavillion (Grouper?).

Those are the embarkation dates, not the CC dates. Going for 4 for 4 next month.

At Barb's site the Navigator's for the February 5, 2005 Magic Eastern were posted, which included a missed docking at CC, and they posted the revised Navigator published after the docking attempts were discontinued and it was clear it would be a day at sea.

We are 5 for 5, Feb. 2000, Dec. 2002, Dec. 2003 almost didn't make it on our week after Thanksgiving Eastern sailing in 03 we had 26 foot waves on thursday catching the tail end of a late year hurricane........and Nov. 2004 Thanksgiving Western....2 stops, Sunday and Friday.

Dec 2003 - We docked at CC. Sunny weather, but cool (low 70's)

Dec 2004 - We docked at CC. Cloudy, windy, cool weather (again low 70's)

3 for 3 here...

February 27th, 2003 - Sunny, 80's - Wonder
February 22nd, 2004 - Sunny, 80's - Wonder
July 17th, 2004 - Sunny, 80's - Magic

8 for 8. 1 near miss (made it on the third try)

Someone commented on not trying with calm seas. A bigger factor is wind direction. If the ship is getting a side wind, that is one big hunk of metal the wind pushes against, causing the ship to drift sideways even against the side thrusters. That was the case on our near miss, and the Captain was able to allow for drift, but it was tough!

2/10/05--We docked, with beautiful weather.

So sad...we missed out on 2/11/05 on the Magic (just one day later!) - weather seemed ok but captain said tow was rough...

Oh yeah - made it in on 5/16/03 - magic - beautiful weather and an absolute PERFECT day!
