...I'm a man of wealth and taste.

Hi all, new here, but not to DW. Well, the last time I was in Disney World was around '83, I think. Has it changed much since then?

My girlfriend and I, along with my son and daughter, and her daughter plan on going down to Florida the end of June. My uncle has 4 park hopper tickets with days left on them, that he'll never use (they're from 2000), so I couldn't pass them up. Anyhow, can't wait to get down there, it's been a long time.

***Update 5/11/07*** Actually the last time I was at WDW was 1979 according to my mom.

It has changed dramatically from the 80's. I went in 2003 my first time since the 80's and boy was I shocked. There are 4 parks now and a lot of dining choices. I highly recommend the following rides: Tower of Terror, Rocking Roller Coaster (at MGM), Expidition Everest, Safari (Animal Kingdom), Mission Space, Soarin, Test Track (Epcot) and of course the classic Space Mountain at the Magic Kingdom.

Enjoy your trip!

First off, I have no sympathy to give to you today...I gave at the office :lmao:

Welcome! as a new person here also, I can give you one bit of advice, tackle one epic thread at a time! :scared:

And also, as someone who had seen WDW every year from 1976 to 1989-90 and then didn't see it again until 2003 the change is incredilble. Is it good or bad? I now live in Kissimmee, take that for what it's worth :)

Welcome to the DIS!!! Have a great vacation.

WOW Since '83... THERE IS SO MUCH.... YOU will be amazed.... Go on Disneyworld.com and get the free DVD it is great to watch and get ideas of what to do!!!

WOW! Welcome! :welcome: I couldnt imagine not going to Disney for that long! We have been going since 1993, and I can say just from then it has changed so much! I hope you have a wonderful vacation! Enjoy, try not to get overwhelmed, and just take it all in! Have a magicial trip!!!!pixiedust:

Thanks for the warm welcome.

I talked to my mom last night, just to be sure when the last time I was at WDW, 1979!!!!!! I was 5 years old then. I guess when you're a kid, time doesn't matter.

My husband went in 1992 and then didn't go again until 2006....he couldn't believe how much it has changed!!!! Maybe I changed him too...he is going again next month. Of course I make it every year, sometimes multiple times not sure if it's a good thing having him along more or not...cuts into my WDW budget :)

I have been twice, 1977 and 1979. Yeah, I know it's changed a lot, seeings as the only thing there then was the Magic Kingdom. My sister, however, was down there around 2000, now how fair is that? My dad took her and a friend.

My wife and I recently divorced (it was mutual, no ill feelings) so I figured now was a good time to maybe add a little light in my children's life. My DD is 12, and my DS is 9. My DGF (Dear, Disney Girlfriend, didn't see that in the abbreviations list,) DD is 16. It should be fun. We're staying offsite in Titusville. In the future I hope to stay at the Military/Military Retiree's resort with my parents.

We last went in 1996 and we are planning a return trip for July for a week at POFQ. The last time we went, we stayed at POR when it was called Dixie Landings. There were 3 parks - MK, Epcot and MGM. PI had recently opened and we dined one night at Fulton's.

I know there has been a lot of changes since then. I have learned a lot about the changes from the Disboards. I have also joined TGM which has been extremely helpful in planning when it's the best time to visit which park. When we went in '95, we didn't really worry about ADRs and which park to go to. We flew by the seat of our pants. Now I think you have to have some kind of game plan to get the most out of your stay.

We are going in armed and probably not very dangerous!! :wave2:

77 more days until POFQ!!!!! :woohoo:

Welcome to the Dis... :welcome:

When I went to Disney World in 1996, was really the first time I remember a Disney trip, and then went again in 2001, and a lot of stuff changed in 5 years.

Just as an FYI, the tickets are non-transferable, meaning you can't transfer them from one person to another.
