Hello! I'm Cassie. I really want to bring my 2 year old twins to the World in the next year. The thing is...My husband just joined the Army. He is in Basic training now. When he is finished with all of his schooling we will be moving to our first duty station.

With all of this going on I am really afraid that we won't be able to go when I want to.(I know, selfish...but this is IMPORTANT TO ME) Money isn't an issue and leave shouldn't be either.(I understand that the Army isn't concerned with my wants and that this may not happen when I want it to)

He knows I've been looking into all of this since they were born. THEY ARE DISNEY KIDS...Playhouse Disney every morning...all the toys etc. I don't think he would disapprove of going, but I could see where he would think this year would just be too hectic.

BUT, I however think it would be the opposite. He is REALLY torn up about not being here in a very IMPORTANT developemental stage in their lives, their birthday AND our first anniversary! He's going to be gone collectively for four months(he's been gone 5 weeks so far) and I think it would be a GREAT way for us to reconnect as a family...

SO...............With the boring background stuff aside this is what I need form you guys...

I'm going to put together a Disney binder. For planning purposes AND because I know HE will NEVER surf the net for Disney stuff, but if there's a binder lying around he WILL sneak a peek.

So I was thinking about having like a cover sheet pleading our case on why WE, as a FAMILY NEED this trip. The fun, and the memories to be made are going to be priceless. I'm not very witty and he appreciates some humor, so do you think you guys could help me out? Just a witty little way to say,"HEY! WE NEED TO DISNEY(Army permitting) THIS YEAR!!!"

Sorry, I don't have any advice since my DH is always all in for Disney. Just wanted to wish you luck though!

My DH is NOT an amusement park type of guy. He's ideal of a vacation is renting a house on a lake, sleeping in, fishing all day.. That sort of thing.

With that said, we went to Disney in 2007 with all of our familes and we are going again (in 45 days:cool1: ) just "us - me, dh, & both ds'. This trip was actually DH's ideal. He has made the comment many times since our trip in 2007 on how awesome it was to spend time together as a family and each of us having our own magical moments. Seeing the looks on DS4's face when we saw Buzz Lightyear, seeing look on DS 7's face when we say the Power Rangers. Seeing BOTH their faces when we saw other characters, seeing my face or DH's face when we saw our favorites. Riding all (most) the rides TOGETHER, watching parades, shows, fireworks, just Magic everywhere. All of those items are priceless.

Not to be morbid, but you don't know that next year or the year after will even be an option. You never know what tomorrow brings. Disney is an amazing way to make memories NOW. To have the time to reconnect. If nothing else, because of the "crazy" schedule I'd say that's even MORE of a reason to do it this year or next if you can.

Plus, I know you said $ is not a problem, but they are FREE this year (and next) and WDW has some great specials running for Military

Speaking of Military -- Thank you & Your husband for the sacrifice you are making to defend USA. You will never get all the recognition for leaders etc your family will deserve for making this choice, but know that there are plenty of "regular" Americans who pray for your family and apprecaite your family every day.

I know you said that money is not an issue...but really it is....with the economy, money could very well be an issue the next time you want to go.

Also, even if money isn't an issue, it is nice to take them while they are 2 and free (tickets, room, eating at buffets)! And there are great military offers...you could really get a bargain that...

I think just when life is hectic is when you need to MAKE SURE you are carving out quality time for your children. As a former military spouse (not a former spouse, former military :lmao: ) I know that they often don't have time for family (even when living together) or they get shipped away.

Remind him of how much your children will enjoy this trip. My DS asks about when we are going to Disneyworld constantly (we told him at Christmas, we are going the end of May)....he is 2.5 years old.

Well you can tell him that since you will have been home taking care of the kids by yourself while he is/has been gone that you need a vacation and you want to have some fun quality family time together. Plus the fact that you do not know if he will have to go on tour so you neeed to take advantage of what time you have together now.
Also if you can go this year, Disney is offering a wonderal military deal. The active duty member gets a free 5 day park hopper, water parks and more ticket for free. You can get a 5 day base ticket for $99. You can add park hopper and/or water parks and more for $25 each. Since the boys are only 2, they would get in for free. SO you would only have to pay for your ticket. Also Disney is also offering room only discounts so you can save up to 40% on a room. There are some blackout days and the room discount along with the tickets expire Dec. 23 of this year. This is an excellent deal.

I hope you can convince your DH to go! :goodvibes

Do you happen to have a link for that? Or can I find it on the Disney page...

Okay I hope I can help you out here! First do not feel guilty for using the discounted tickets since you are new to the service. No one knows if Disney will offer this again, and if you don't take it you will be throwing your money out the window. If you feel that bad use the money you saved to get a nicer hotel or doing things you wouldn't be able to do otherwise. All the money goes into Disney's pocket anyways. I have thought of a few ways to talk your way into your Disney World vacation.

1. Plan it as a surprise for your husband. With him getting out of boot camp, training, and all that it would be a nice surprise. The military really does take up a lot of time, and somedays I feel like I'm a single parent.

2. It might be that he doesn't want to put in the "effort" of a Disney vacation. It's not a place where you can just fly down and kick your feet up (well it can be). Maybe asking him if he wouldn't mind going if it's a slower paced and with two 2 year olds that would be a good idea anyway.

3. Maybe you could vacation in FL and only do MK 2 days so that it isn't overwhelming Disney.

4. Show him that there are things he would want to do while at Disney. There are behind the scene tours, water sking, horseback riding, boating, fishing, and rides for everyone. Instead of making a letter pleading him to go put the binder together in a way that would make him want to go.

I hope you get to go on vacation when you want to but please remember you guys are just starting out and low in the pecking order. He would have to have time saved up and nothing going on when you want to go. Plus the military is always changing it's mind so he might get approved today but not the week before it's time to go. Good Luck!
