(Orlando Sentinel) On the day the Tigger trial is starting, defendant Michael C. Chartrand this morning rejected a plea deal from prosecutors in the sexual molestation case.

The Orange-Osceola State Attorney's Office offered a misdemeanor battery charge and one year of probation. But Chartrand decided to go to trial on the charge of lewd and lascivious molestation on a 13-year-old girl. He could face more than four years in prison.

Chartrand was charged in April after the girl and her mother complained that he fondled the teenager while he was dressed as the Tigger character in Walt Disney World's Toon Town.

Jury selection started about 10 a.m.

He must truly believe his innocence to reject the plea bargain. Good for him then. Let them prove he molested that little girl. If he's innocent, I hope the jury believes him.
