This is our first trip and we have been debating about which sit-down at MK. We love Italian food, but are used to upscale Italian cuisine and I fear Tony's would disappoint us (me and my DH, my two DDs will not care). Has anyone had a meal at the Plaza and can give me an opinion. I get the feeling it's just your standard grill food, which would be ok with us. We just want to have a quick dinner and get spots for the evening parade. Thanks for your input.

We have done both. We like Tony's, but it is definitely not upscale Italian food. We've never had a bad meal, but service can be iffy.

We LOVE the Plaza. It is our must-do last lunch of our trip on the way to the airport. We have had everything from the salads, to the soups, to the sandwiches (huge portions too!) and never had a bad meal. And be sure to have a shake and save room for the desserts. :worship:

Kathy, I love that picture of Mark lovin on that sundae!:rotfl:

The Plaza is wonderful. We have lucked out a time or two and gotten a window seat with a perfect view of the castle. Its much cheaper than Tony's (although if you are on the DDP that doesn't matter). I just love their sandwiches and burgers and the desserts are so good. And my kids love that place.

Tony's is fun, we enjoy the Lady and the Tramp theming and I like the food fine. But its definitely not gourmet or upscale. Its menu is not that varied, I mean Olive Garden has way more cutting edge selections than Tony's does! Again, I enjoy the food, but if I was an authentic Italian seeker or was used to that, I would probably be disappointed. I do love the desserts at Tony's, the pistachio creme brulee in particular.

If I could only do one, I'd pick the Plaza.

We ate at both places in November.

The Plaza is good for a quick meal. Sandwiches are good as well as the ice cream.

Tony's was good as well. The husband, who is very picky, loved this place. He had the chicken Parm and declared it great. I had the ziti & it was good. We had a table on the porch and had a view of Mary Poppins and seen the Main St. band go through twice.

We would go back to these two places. But the husband decided on only going back to Tony's in Feb.

It's just a matter of your personal taste. Quick, sandwiches : Plaza

Good italian, possibly good view : Tony's

I have a review of the two with more pictures in my link at the bottom if you want to look.

Happy deciding!

We've tried Tony's twice - once was okay and once was just plain bad. I've come to the conclusion that the Italian food (and the mexican) is just not the same in Florida as it is in California. We don't eat Italian in Florida (except I love Maggianos and think we might try that one time when we are down).

As for the Plaza - we've tried it twice two - both times - homerun. We've had the Club Sandwich, the Ruben and the Cheese Burger. All very good. The ice cream is awesome as well.

We've eaten at both. We like Tony's for dinner. But it is most definitely NOT an upscale Italian restaurant. I find the food, okay. Not awful, not great. If you do go to Tony's, try the Tiramisu.

However, if we wanted burgers for lunch, we would definitely go to the Plaza. Their burgers are pretty good (according to my husband). I had the sandwich, it was pretty good as well.

The PLAZA is one of the best kept secrets at MK- so if you go shhhhh don't tell everyone how good it is;)

I loved the food at the Plaza. But was VERY disappointed in the service. I have heard alot of people on these boards complain of the same thing. Usually I dismiss service reviews because the service is inconsistent EVERYWHERE at the world with the exception of V&A. However, 2 other families that we know went this past fall and all complained of slow and BAD service. Just be aware to not plan to be out of there too quickly.

Not to say that you didn't have bad service - but we had great service at the Plaza. She was one of the best waitresses of our 17 day trip

The PP is correct the food is better at Olive Garden than Tony's. The food is much better at the Plaza but the menu is much more limited IMHO. Think quick but good sandwiches and burgers. Tony's has a better "Dinner" feel while Plaza is a good lunch spot.
