Plaza Inn & Magic Morning advantage

I know we'll already be able to get into the park before normal hours but I'm trying to take advantage of the fact we don't get Magic Mornings (we have AP's). I've made reservations at the Plaza Inn for 7:50am on a magic morning. So the park opens at 7am for magic morning ticket holders and 8am for everyone else. I've made a late reservation with the hopes that it will let us in at 7am, we take advantage of the early 50 minutes, then go to the Plaza Inn. Now I'm reading that a cast member will escort us from the entry gates to the restaurant, not allowing us free access to the park.

Has anyone tried this? And if they do escort you what is the earliest they let you in? Thanks for the info.

If you have a reservation at 7:50 on a day when the park opens at 8 then you will not be let in at 7AM if you do not have MM or EMH. They will likely allow you to go in with everyone else somewhere between 7:30 and 7:45 for rope drop and then will give you a Plaza Inn pin so you can go past the rope to your reservation. There will be a cast member at the rope that will let you through or at least that has been our experience. I have not read any reports of people being let in to causally stroll through the parks before their reservation, unlike what's been reported from WDW.

I think they usually maintain a security line across Main Street and Plaza Inn until regular park open. We have had to show our room keys to get past that rope moving around the park during that hour. It's completely different from WDW for this.

Great info! I totally forgot they let regular guests in before 8am for the second rope drop.

I'm not sure your strategy will work. It would be better to do a 7AM breakfast and then finish eating just as the parks open. Or open DCA that day since it won't have EMH and have a late breakfast another day that counts as brunch. Maximize your morning, money, and calories.

Unclear as to why people have to show a room key. People with 3 day tickets have MM at the same time. Do they check room keys or tickets? When we've had MM we've always gone right at 7 (or whenever it began) and never switched lands, so I've never experienced this.

We have 5 park days, so plan to use our MM on Thursday, then hope to book the 7:10am breakfast at Plaza Inn on Saturday. We won't rush too much, and depending on characters will finish eating between 8-8:30. Not planning to try to get on rides during EMH, but there was a clause when I booked the reservation that I didn't recall in the past saying "If applicable, Extra Magic Hours reservations, EMH is an exclusive for Guests staying at a Disneyland Area Hotel" so just wanted to make sure they'd still let us in for the breakfast reservation.

@Beck & the Beast How was your trip? Did you get to enter other areas of the park during MM after your breakfast? Or did you have to be held back with the rope until Regular Park Opening?
