with the dessert party, is the plaza garden viewing area close enough to see the projections well

I can say that the other side of the garden, in front of CP, is close enough...as long as you're tall enough. We were right at the front of the area, but DS9 and DD9 had some trouble seeing projections that were down low because other guests standing on the walkway a short distance ahead blocked some of their view.

I think it's as good a spot as you can reasonably hope to find in the hub, outside of being right up on the castle (which for me would be too close).

We were in the back of this area and actually we're able to stay seated through the entire show. We were lucky that everyone in front of us stayed seated. It made for a much more enjoyable show with little ones.

Yes. It's open to the public once it's over but it's not like you'll see a flood of people coming in the area. It's not really a bad idea to stay and watch OUAT mainly just to let the crowds die down. I tried to get to BTMR right after HEA by crossing the Hub and it was a MASSIVE undertaking to make it through. Ha!

Yes-it is NIGHT and Day from watching at the Terrace!

I will never watch HEA from the Terrace Party again!

FWIW, I just did it again on 7/2 (I know, I have a problem) and had a very similar experience - on that day if I didn't have the little ones we could have definitely stayed seated for the show. I know it's a hefty price to pay, but I'm a big fan of this experience. Hope you have fun!

This was true for when I did it, too. The best part about purchasing the dessert party was being able to sit and stretch and relax for HEA. Some woman let her daughter stand up in front of me and it blocked a little bit, but I still had a pretty good view, and I enjoyed not being elbowed in by crowds.
