Our school system is out for spring break April 4-8th 2011. I already have our Disney vacation booked for Summer but I am entertaining something for April. I have looked at points charts and VB is far more expensive from a points perspective and about a 10 hr drive compared to HHI which is far cheaper in points and a little under a 5 hr drive. We have been to both resorts and enjoy both but we have always traveled during the June-Sept window. Thoughts?

HH is further north - so the ocean is till pretty cold and so is HH.

it is summer before it is really temperature friendly. which is why the point difference.

the summer can be too hot at VB - but HH is very nice.

what are you going to do?

If we went with HHI we would hit historical sites. We were there this summer but it was super hot. So we mainly got some beach time in and did a few activites. One lighthouse, which we all enjoyed but dear lord it was in the mid 90's. By the time we got up to the top we were all sweaty and sticky. So we could focus on historical at HHI. If we went VB we would expect beach and ocean time due to the lack of off resort activities. But I am leaning against that long of a drive for 5 nights.:confused3

Not only could you do the interesting historical things on Hilton Head, you should also do a day trip to Charleston.....wonderful city....we did Patriots Point last June in the heat.....wished we had more time and energy, also city tours, the market and wonderful restaurants.

We go to VB for spring break(we'll be there 4/2-4/8). 2yrs ago we had a really windy day, so we roadtripped up to Daytona and visited the DaytonaUSA museum. Much grumbling in the backseat on the way up, but they really enjoyed looking around and the IMAX movie.

I've been to HHI in mid-April a few years back for a business conference. The weather was wonderful. Sunny not too hot for golf, tennis or walks on the beach. Pools were heated. Personally that's when I would go to HHI, but I have someone who thinks "spring break=FL beach" so I have some work to do.
