Yes! We had our first playdate. There is only 6 weeks left of school but on Monday a little boy came over for a play date with DS. Our guest is a NT and DS has autism but they like each other and played well together. They played outside and the other boy ran our DS over with the small wheeler. DS got his arm stuck and it was cut and bruised. It was so sad to see him so upset but he told his friend it was an accident and we made rule about no one riding DS little wheeler.

They played video games and had a snack. I was always watching but not involved. I had read to just let them lead with what they want to do on a play date. They did just that and had a wonderful time.

So much so that the mom called and reminded me that I said if he wanted to come back Thursday would be ok. He wants to come back to play again with DS! Yes, we have a friend who is NT and likes my DS.

Sorry, but I am just so happy over something that would normal to everyone else.

Wow that is great, you should be excited. The fact that he was resilient after the crash bodes well.

Friends even if they are transitory can make an amazing difference in our children’s lives.
