I am clueless here. I keep seeing a mention of this offer. In previous years How has this offer worked. Looking at taking a school group in January so just needing some info to get ideas squared away in mind in case it is offered for January. By the way I did a search and just got mentions of it but no explanation. :)

My understanding is:

If you stay at a value resort you would pay full rate for the room and get park tickets and the quick service dining plan for any adults that go for the price of the children's tickets/dining.

If you stay at a moderate or deluxe resort you get the same deal only you get the standard dining plan for the adults at child's prices.

You mentioned a school group so if you are mostly taking young children and only a few adults, this plan may not benefit you as much.

ETA If they are 10 and up they would be considered Disney adults. So a better value. :)

If they do it again as it was in the past, kids 9 & under get free park admission and the dining plan that the adult buys. As far as the stay part, I never saw any cheaper price on a room with this.

It's a package offer, so you would only be able to book it on a package reservation including room and tickets plus a dining plan.

Often youth groups travel on group reservations, which would not be packages. Depends on how large the group is and whether it is being coordinated through Disney group reservations.

If you are taking a group and need 10 rooms or more, you are better off contacting Disney group sales. They can give you a discount on a block of rooms and offer group ticket discounts as well.

I just thought I would mention that we took advantage of the stay/play/dine and we were 4 adults in the room (POR). All over 40 years old. Disney did NOT charge the upcharge for extra adults either (2 at $15 per night is the usual charge for a moderate I believe). We were all family, fairly close and play together nicely. lol. So this is also a savings. Just throwing that out there, since I have never seen this mentioned.

They charged us in Feb/March. It wasn't a separate charge it was just shown as a higher room rate per night.

I didn't realize kids 9 and under get free park tickets with this offer. Wow that would be awesome!!!! Crossing my fingers this is announced for general public soon. Are you also saying kids got free dining if you purchase it for adults at kids prices? just want to make sure im understanding correctly. Thanks for the info!!!!

We went last January with the s/p/d package and basically it was this:

1. Rack rate for the room
2. Adults pay child's price for tickets & dining plan
3. Children charged the child's price for tickets & dining plan
(children definitely were not free)

I vaguely remember that free dining would have saved us about $200-$300 more (we stayed value). HTH

That is a huge help! Thank you so much!!! I guess the OP must have been confused or was talking about a different offer. I was afraid it sounded too good to be true. Thanks so much for posting that info...that helps a ton. That is how I was crunching numbers, so I'm glad I'm on the right track. Thanks again!!:goodvibes

Lol, I booked this offer last January too, and I thought I got a discount on room rate, and Dining Plan. Park ticket was regular rate. I only bought a 1 day ticket because we have APs.
