Thank you for this thread - we are having a downer of a day here. It's nice to know there is someplace I can go to give my spirits a boost.

So that's my nice thought - no matter how bad things are, there is always a nice person out there ready with a smile and some kind words!!!

Thanks for sharing that. I read the original thread and found it very touching!!

I just want to say I've had a wonderful day with my dh. I love spending the day together. I also realized today that - it's not what you have in your life, but who you have in your life that counts.

Happy thought:

My twins had their 6th birthday party today! We took them to Toys R Us to pick out a present. This was the first time EVER that they've stepped foot into that store. The wide eyed expressions on their faces were priceless!

Imagining their faces makes me smile!

I went out for the day with my family - we got away from the problems for awhile at the Boardwalk, so that was nice.

They used to just think Target was the toy store, and this year they learned to read so the jig was up. When they read the Toys R Us sign for the first time, that's when the begging to go in started. We decided to save it for this special occasion.

JoyG - I just had a beautiful image of a child visiting a toy store for the first time. The look must have been priceless. I wish I could remember back to my sons' first visits. WOW I'm sorry that I can't.

diznygirl - I'm glad your day got a little better. Try to remember: "that it's not always what happens to people that's important. It's what they do about it."

My thoughts: If I ever get down, I look to the sky...............there are usually stars or clouds and you would be amazed at how soothed you can feel watching stars or clouds.

The stars and the heavens are the best place to find answers and peace. Often look toward them myself. Love to find "shapes" in the clouds.

Hi Karen. I also heard that bringing your hands to midline has a calming effect, as does touching another person, so when I talk to upset children, I take their hands in mine and bring them in towards each other............try that everyone when you need to soothe a child. Works on infants too!

Paige that is fantastic. I will definitely try that one. Always good to have another soothing technique in the old bag of tricks.

I was explaining something to oldest DS today, when it hit me, that that your life can be changed in a matter of hours, by people who don't even know you. The friendship on these boards is constant proof of that statement.
