I was just wondering if anyone had used the platinum plan and if it was really worth it. The last time we went we did the silver plan, but really wanted all of our meals taken care of. It is too much of a hassel to worry about paying for dinner when you get down there. Any information would help. Thanks

The Platnium plan will expire on 1/2/05 when the new Magic Your Way packages become available. If you book the Platnium plan before that date, it most likely will be honored, but if you don't, you'll be stuck with the Magic Your Way plans. There are only two that contain dining. The first one costs an additional $35 per night for adults and $10 per night for children 3 - 9. It includes one sitdown meal, one counterservice meal and one snack per day. The other plan (not sure of pricing) is called the Premium Package and is very similiar to the current Gold Plan.

I think disney will honor any dream maker packages booked before January 2 so if you want to try Platinum this is probably your last chance. That said. We went on a delayed honey moon DH 40th birthday extravaganza in November and treated ourselves to the Platinum plan for most of the stay. We really liked not having to worry about budgeting our meals. As you said, it is a hassle worrying about it while your down there. We used our plan to the max, taking advantage of two fireworks cruises (we stayed at two resorts and had a plan at each hence, two cruises I liked Wishes, DH likes Illuminations), boat rentals, Cirque du soleil, dinner at Victoria and Alberts (and everywhere else we wanted to eat), we started our vacation with spa treatments and had second spa treatments halfway through our trip, we took three "tours" Keys to the Kingdom, World Showcase and my favorite Dolphins in Depth and lastly the itinerary planners were wonderful. Anyway, in retrospect we would probably go with the Gold plan if we were to go again (soon enough to take advantage of it) because when our trip ended we had 14 "coupons" left on our room key(1 coupon=1 meal). We didn't use the snacks because we were never hungry enough to get a small meal and the places that we tried to get snacks didn't take the coupons. We had a great, fabulous and magical time and we could not do Victoria & Alberts and Dolphins in Depth on the Gold plan. But having done those, we probably woud just go Gold next time. I highly recommend the Plat Plan and if you have any questions let me know.

We also recently used the Platinum Plan in November. We split our stay - 7 nights POR Silver Plan, 1 night in between at POR, 3 nights Platinum at the Poly, and our last night at Pop. For the 3 nights on Platinum we "saved" $1500 over what we actually paid. We had 1 coupon left at the end. We did all of the extras that are in the Platinum that aren't in Gold (fireworks cruise, V&A's, Dolphins in Depth, Aqua Seas, spa treatment, etc) and really enjoyed everything being pre-paid.

But it is $$$$. Our 3 nights at the Poly cost us more than our other 9 nights combined! I'd recommend going with Gold since you'll have 3 meals a day there anyway, and if you wanted to try Platinum just do it for 3 nights (the shortest amount of time you can book) if you wanted to try the stuff that's not included in the Gold Plan.

HTH :D

We just returned from WDW, and we did the Gold Plan. We ate our way around the World!!!! The Gold Plan allowed us to eat in the nice, sit-down restaurants, and really enjoy some delicious meals. We even had some points remaining when we checked out! We ate at very nice restaurants such as the California Grill, Artist Point, and Portobello Yacht Club. We saw Cirque du Soleil, and just had a marvelous time. And even tho Victoria & Albert's isn't included on the Gold Plan, we still ate dinner there to celebrate our anniversary. It was around $270.00 for the 2 of us, but oh so worth it. I highly recommend the Gold Plan. It was just right, and it was so convenient handing over our Room Key Card that indicated we were on the Gold Plan.

Hope that helps!

Hugs,
Margo
