I'm looking into getting crazy and doing the platinum package for my b/f and I for our upcoming September trip. Has anyone ever done this or known anyone who has and is it worth it?

My mom and my youngest sister did this on our last trip to WDW. (My DBF and I couldn't afford it so we just paid for our meals.) You definitely get a lot of food on the platinum package. Or maybe I'm thinking of the premium platinum package? I don't know. All I know is that they both got 3 TS meals a day along with several other perks such as tickets to La Nouba and the ability to book several different tours.

I think it's just too much food. My DBF and I both agreed that one TS meal a day is great, 2 TS meals a day is more than enough, and 3 TS meals a day is just way, way too much! We were so stuffed on the day we had 3 TS meals! But when taking into consideration all the extras that you can get (like the park tours) it may not be that bad of a deal. I'd have to look into how much it cost and how many meal credits I'd end up wasting, though.

My Wife and I have looked into it. It is a NEAT thing to do... I believe you can eat at any of the restaurants including Victoria and Albert's. I don't think it is worth it JUST for the food (although do the math and verify) but IF you take advaantage of the tours, the watercraft, the entrance to pretty much everything and really go out and explore Disney outside of riding rides at the 4 theme parks, I can see the value. Wife and I will do this once in our lifetime... probably sell our DVC points that year and use it toward the package.

I have never done the plan but considered it once.

This was my take on it from reading many reviews on these boards. For the plan to make economic sense you really need to take advantage of most of the tours/La Nouba/watersports/golfing, etc...

You also have to be willing to eat...ALOT!

Now, for us, that would mean taking away a tremendous amount of park time, and I just don't think we could eat that much food everyday for any length of time.

This is just a personal issue for me, but I think I would have been thinking too much/too often about whether or not I was getting my money's worth every day instead of just "enjoying". Again, that's just me!

Good luck deciding! I would definately do a lot of research before committing to such a plan.

I went through the list to see whether it would be worth the money and with the way we travel, we'd save money by booking the specific components we'd use individually.

I was going to look into doing that but with the TS meals (DBF likes to eat and experience different resturaunts), the fireworks cruise, the tours we've always wanted to take but never made the time, the spa services, golf lessons and VIP fireworks all sound very magical for Year of a Million Dreams, and it will be my birthday so I'm thinking of just scrimping and saving and just going for it. I'll have to put in some OT at work but I know it will be worth it.

When you take into consideration all the package offers that we want to do the OOP expense for the breakdowns would probably come out to the same thing. We already have 7 tours we want to do and I can't wait to get to that spa!

the price difference between the platinum and the regular dining plan is approximately $1,000.

if you really need that extra pampering take it,,,if not,,,i would save the $$$ for souveniers,,,or a longer stay.

my wife and i have been 2x now on the dining plan...i look at it this way,,i know there are a few extra perks,,but,,,We can't eat $1,000 worth of eggs.

Show your support for tigger!

I'm having a hard time nailing down the price of the platinum plan. Is there an easy way to figure this out? All I have been able to find are statements like, "packages start at..."

I didnt know there was more than one dinning plan. I tried looking up info on it, but couldnt find any. Please post or PM me a link about the premium/platinum plans. Thanks

you have to go to:

http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/wd...dReservationsLanding?gatewayID=landing&bhcp=1

if that doesn't work just go to:

www.disney.com

select disney world,,put in your dates and it will walk you through,,,you can pick different resorts, packages, etc. you will be able to compare your packages once you save the information, and see the difference.

for my wife and myself it was about $1,000 difference at a mod resort from the platinum to the dining plan, for us it wasn't worth it.

there are AAA, discounts available, if you are a member, but it depends when you are going as to what the discount is,,,you cannot plug these into the website.

once you think you have what you want DO NOT BOOK ONLINE call DISNEY directly, they may have unpublished specials that they are running, get a price quote from the rep. Stay on the computer while you are on the phone,,if you can,,if not save your web page(s) and go through what you would like.

Before you assume you can do 7 tours, make sure you can actually schedule them in your time at WDW. Many are only offered on certain days at certain times and several overlap. That's one of the main reasons why Platinum was more than booking the components.

That and after the "regular" dining plan, I cannot imagine that much food. We were stuffed all day everyday within 2 days of arrival on the dining plan.

And also make sure that you know how much of each item you get. I think you only get one spa treatment each. Maybe you already knew this, and it's your money. I just wanted to point out I did the math and it wasn't worth it for me.

This must have been what we had when we were in WDW the first week of our honeymoon (or something similar, this was almost 6 years ago). I'm not sure, since my husband and his parents arranged everything, so I had nothing to do except go and have fun, lol!! If so, we did not care for it. 1. Too much food - we are the type of people who have a piece of toast for breakfast, a Frappuccino for lunch, and then a decent dinner - so 3 full meals a day was WAY too freakin much, lol! 2. We were only in WDW for the first week of our honeymoon, so we didn't have any time to take advantage of the activities that are included. We didn't even go to the water parks, and only went to Pleasure Island twice, let alone take advantage of the diefferent activities offered on the plan. So in my mind, it was an absolute ripoff. It maybe would have been different if we were there for a few more days, but for a week, it was just ridiculously frivolous. (Well actually it seems pretty over the top for any amount of time when I think about it, lol!) I think my husband only agreed to book it cause his mother's TA raved to her about it, and my MIL thought it was such a great idea for us to do it, since that first week was their wedding present to us.......trust us, we don't use the same TA as my in-laws now, lol!

I did love staying at the Boardwalk though - haven't been back there since, but the garden suite was lovely - maybe you should just purchase the regular DDP, and splurge on that room? It would be a wonderful treat for the two of you, very romantic. :cloud9:

If you have a chance to do the platinum plan, and you think you might want to do it, I say do it.
Last Sept. we went on this plan and it was amazing. I can't hardly express all the magic that we experienced. All I can say if if you have an opertunity to do this plan you should do it. My warning for this plan is that you should either be active and enjoy doing tons of things on a schedule that is pretty flexible or that you be willing to spend this kind of money and just relax in luxury, knowing that you'll be able to do whatever you want whenever you want to.

I'm looking forward to my next trip this Sept. we're going platinum again.

If you are going to do the Platinum Plan you have to be prepared to sacrifice your time at the parks.

You can, with this plan have 3 sit down meals aday and unlimited recreation - like golfing, water craft rentals, horseback riding, tours, dolphin in depth etc... this takes a lot of time away from doing the parks and it is also tons of food. (The Fatten'em Plan) :)

You don't have to do 3 sit down meals though, you can use counter service instead - but consider that you have credits that are all worth the same, (ie) Victoria and Alberts is 1 credit, so is a dinner at California Grill, so is a tuna sandwich at the Columbia Harbour House - they are all equal in the eyes of the plan - so to get your moneys worth you want to book the more expensive eateries.

You will get the itinerary planning services with the Platinum Plan which is nice - but you would also get this staying concierge.

We enjoyed the PP, but in hindsight I prefer concierge with the lounge offerings and then just paying for anything extra we choose to do.

I believe the Platinum Plan is about $200 extra per person per night. The Premium Plan is $150 extra per person per night.

I haven't done it, but I have researched it to DEATH!!!! :rotfl: (I have it all planned out... use the Platinum Plan for the least amount of time needed to take advantage of its perks, then split stay with the Premium Plan for the rest to use up the perks common to both plans!)

Cass is very right... in order to get your money's worth, you'd need to sacrifice park time. If you golf, that would definitely help towards the cost factor.
