Hello all! :sunny: I haven't posted in quite some time, but I am now in the midst of planning my next dis vacation and I'm looking for some advice. I'm thinking of booking the 2006 Platinum Package and I wanted to know if anyone else was going to try the package and do you think it's worth it. We are planning at staying at the Grand Floridian and want to do something really great. I want this to be one of those incredible once in a lifetime vacations ( it will most likely be for our honeymoon) :lovestruc , but I also don't want to pay upwards of $10,000. I'd really appreciate any feedback on the package and the resort, I've only stayed at the Yatch Club before and I wasn't too happy with our Sept 05 visit there.

I think you need to really look at everything included in the pkg. and consider if you would really use it. Think about estimating what you would spend on all of those items you really would use in the package. I found that I was better off not going with these kind of pkgs. However, we are not big on dining every meal either. I do think you could be very happy at the GF though!

....with previous poster. We did the Deluxe magic package for our honeymoon, and boy were we stuffed!!! We love to eat, but I found it difficult to enjoy appetizer, entree & dessert with every single meal. DH did not want to share anything with me since we had already "paid" for all this food. We rented the boats a couple of times, but mostly we ate!

I love having everything paid for before I go, but this time we are just doing the dining plan. I have about $200 in Disney Visa rewards to use on the boats if we choose to do so. The platinum plan is very expensive and includes things like Cirque, tours, and golf that I know we won't take full advantage of. Have you thought of splurging on concierge (with or w/o dining) at GF?

Whatever you decide, I'm sure you will have a great time. Congratulations on your upcoming wedding/honeymoon!

We did the Platinum Package at the Polynesian for part of our stay last November, and came out over $1000 ahead of what we'd actually paid. But if you read our trip report, we also didn't sleep much or relax, and all we did was eat ;) We had an extremely packed schedule, and had a blast, but if you're looking for a nice relaxing trip and want to come out ahead $-wise, Platinum is not the way to go. I had priced everything out before we went, and we really wanted to try some of the package components that aren't available on the other plans. But we couldn't afford it for our entire 12-night stay, so we just did 3 nights (the minimum allowed) at the end of our stay. Worked for us, but I think you really need to sit down and consider how much of it you would actually use - and how much you can eat. If you have any questions, just ask and I'll try to help :)

Thank you everyone for all of the information and advice. I will definately take some time out and see if we will really be able to use everything in the package to our advantage. I would really enjoy the cirque tickets, spa treatments and some of the tours. Food wise, though we love to eat we were already so stuffed on the dining plan on our last vacation. I'm interested in the platinum package dining bc it elimates the use of credits and having to do counter service, table service and snacks. I hope I have the correct information, with the package you can eat anywhere for a meal right, it doesn't have to be 1 ts 1 cs 1 snack per day? Thank you again everybody!

The way it worked in '04 was that you got 4 credits per person per day - and you could use them just about anywhere. They say you get "breakfast, lunch, dinner, and a snack", but there is no differentiation between the credits. We split 3 nights worth of credits over 4 full days. So no worries about CS versus TS. HTH:)
