Can someone tell me how you book the platinum dining plan? I know about the ordinary one, used it last september but am interested to know how to go about doing the platinum dining plan.

You need to request it when you book your trip. We are doing the premium plan, as there were some things on the Platinum that I just couldn't see us doing(Spa treatments?!?! At WDW?!?! Who has time for that!?!?). Remember, the Platinum plan is the whole plan, not just the dining portion. It gets you 3 meals each person, each night, with no differences between CS and TS, and one snack as well. If the regular DDP is too much food, that sounds like way too much. The Premium gets 3 meals, no snack, which I'm sure will be that much less food!:lmao: If you pretend to book online through WDW it does allow you to choose the plan and to read what it encompasses. Then you can make your decision. Whatever you decide, good luck!:thumbsup2

We just got back from doing the Platinum plan. We had one night at the Poly and we booked it with 8 day park hoppers and one day of Disney Dining. Then we had 4 nights at the Contemporary (we were there for the Adventures on the 7 sea Lagoon, POC). This was a special Event so we had 2 dinners and a breakfast while there. Then we went and checked in at the WL for 4 nights total, BUT 2 of the nights we had the Platinum Plan, yes that was 3 meals a day and snack but we were able to use the plan until midnight of our 3rd night at WL. So that wasn't so bad. We were able to spread the meals out. We have been to the world enough that it's no big deal if we don't get "ride" time. We did get manicures and pedicures for our spa treatment, we went parasailing and played miniature golf. Plus we did 3 tours, "Keys to the Kingdom tour", "Undiscovered Future World Tour" and the "Steam Train Tour". We have a teenage daughter and I can't imagine doing all we did with young children.

We had one of the best trips we have ever had this go around. I'm already planning our trip for next year.

We did the premium package which is the one that gives you 3 meals a day, plus cirque tickets, tours, etc. We loved it!!! My dh and I are big food people and like to go to the table service meals. We didn't do the platinum b/c of the spa treatments and some other things on it we wouldn't want to do.

I booked the whole package last year online - room, premium package, tickets, ME etc. It was very quick and easy. You do have to select a deluxe resort to be able to book the platinum package.

oh wait is your ticker for the trip you want to add the platinum package for? B/c at POFQ you can only add the regular dining plan or the premium plan. They do not offer the platinum package at that resort. This is the other reason we didn't do the platinum package. It wasn't worth it to us to book a deluxe resort on top of paying more money for the package.

By the way we stayed at POFQ and absolutely loved it.

I tried the Platinum Plan once and loved it:thumbsup2 However, what I did - and it sounds like what CindyKansas did - was to split the trip up. Stayed the first night room-only since we got there late. Did the first portion of the trip at POR with the regular dining plan. Did another night room only in between the packages (since your package components don't expire until midnight of your check-out day). Then checked in at the Poly on the Platinum Plan. I really wanted to try the things that were only available on the Plat. Plan - spa treatment, Illuminations cruise, V&A, Dolphins in Depth, Aqua Tour, etc, - so our days were planned with those in mind. Oh, and around all of our meals;) It was a lot of fun, and I got to be super-planner which I loved. However on our Ill. cruise we were paired up with a family with 2 young children who looked exhausted and fell asleep, so I don't think it's the best plan for everyone! HTH:)

No looking for a future holiday contemplating thats all.

To get the plan you have to stay at a deluxe hotel. This plan do right is the best plan you would every have at Disney.

We been doinbg the Platinum plan ever since it came out. tips on using it.

Buy a night before and after the package plan. By Doing this you get the full use of it. the plan start first thing in the morning till the last night of your end date of the plan.

I will show you what to do for a 4 night plan.

If there is 4 of you that would give you 48 meals. and 32 snacks

what we do is use 20 meals for dinner for all five days of the plan ( 5x4=20). then we mix up up breakfest and lunches for the other 28 meals. Yes you will not have 3 meals a day but you can have 2 meals a day plus a extra 8 meals which gives you two more meals you can use during the plan. If you eat all that food you will not want to eat 3 meals a day. The snacks we use it for Dole whips or other small things like that.

But the best things about this plan is you can do everything at disney without looking at your check book. Wedo the following

1) Bass fish
2) segway tours ( Epoct and Fort wilderness)
3) jet skis ( almost ever morning)
4) Parasailing
5) spa
6) use the platoon boats
7) use the sea racers
8) cirque du solie every third year.
9) magic kingdom fireworks boat tour.

the food, we go to the following places for dinner
Citrico's
Narcoossee's
V&A
California grill
Yachtsman.

When on this plan you have to make sure you plan everything out to the minute to get the full use out of it. then after you need to have a coupe of days to rest to recover from all the running around. my daughters are now 22 and 21 they started going when they 6 and 7. so we are like pro's going down there. It is home away form home. We love the Grand Floridian it is our best hotel and we have stayed almost in all the other hotels.

It may be significant that the Platinum package plan is not a Disney dining plan. It is not available as a ticketless passholder package and it is not available on DVC points reservations. You also can't upgrade a free Disney Dining Plan to either the platinum or premium package plans. For the Platinum you must also book a deluxe resort.

The dining portion operates somewhat like the Disney Deluxe Dining Plan, with the main differences being that there are additional restaurants that accept the premium and platinum plans, and all restaurants (including signatures) cost only one credit per meal.

To book it, you must book a package reservation at a deluxe resort including at least a one-day ticket, and add the platinum dining plan.

ooh....no dvc reservations allowed...I was thinking of using one of these plans for our trip next summer....

Many DVC members who want to try the premium or platinum plans do split stays with a premium/platinum package stay somewhere in the middle (to allow full days for enjoying the package's benefits). If you have an annual pass, be aware that you do have to purchase at least a one-day ticket with the package. I think some of them look into booking the DVC villa with cash through CRO for the package so they have a chance of staying in the same room.
