platinum card and suite upgrade

Would anyone know if once I secure a room with the entertainment rate I am still able to upgrade to a suite at no charge with the platinum card? And would the upgrade need to be done at the time of reservation?

The last time I stayed at RPR and used the entertainment card to book the rate, they would NOT let me upgrade on the phone. I suppose I could have kept trying but since we have stayed at the resort countless times I figured they would take care of us when we got there which they did.
When I book Loews Philadelphia we booked a great rate on their web site and was able to upgrade on the phone to a deluxe suite as platinum members.

Will RPR upgrade if you book with the Fan Club rate? I know there was a post once before on this, but who could find it with the search?!
