Platform Shoes??? Need 1/2"

.... I did it plenty of times when DS was little and then we celebrated with an ice cream when he was able to meet the height requirment....

Just don't use that ice cream to stuff the kiddo's shoes to give that 1/2".

We are going to WDW January 21 and DD3 is 39 1/2" with shoes on. Does anyone know where we can buy platform shoes for her? Any other ideas? She is a huge rollercoaster fan and went on the Barnstormer 9 times in a row when she was just 36".

Any help??

Firstly, if you are attempting to beat the system with platform shoes, you are endangering your child's safety! Sorry, but those height restrictions are there for a reason! I completely understand the disappointment if she falls just short, but still...better safe than sorry!

Now for some practical advice if your DD is really THAT close to the height requirement... Our son was just about 35 inches when we went to WDW a few months ago. I honestly wasn't sure if he was QUITE 35", so we had him "pre-measured" on a day we didn't plan for him to ride the Barnstormer. He was plenty tall enough. We went back a few days later and he was short by half an inch! We think it was because it was later in the day, and your spine compresses throughout the day. He had on the same shoes and same brand of socks both days. They are VERY thin-soled shoes (Preschoolians, for those who know them), and add maybe a quarter inch to his height, at most. We tried one more day, in the morning, and by dh standing on his feet a little bit so he'd be flat-footed on the ground, he BARELY made it. Do what you can to have your dd stand upright, and have her ride in the morning. Don't go with the platform shoes. Have her wear normal socks and shoes and hope for the best. Please don't risk her safety just for a few thrills! The rides will still be there next time!

GOOD LUCK!!!!!

hi there,

We took or dtwins in September of 06 (wow it's 07!). Anyway, my dd is slightly taller than my ds. DS just made the 40 inch mark and was able to ride Test Track with me, but he was refused a ride immediately after with my DH. What I thought was strange was not once aside from that particular time were either of my children measured. We just walked on the rides.:confused3 DH and I chose to measure on our own so perhaps that is why the CM's didn't question us. For the record, DS did meet the 40 inch mark so we weren't exactly sure why they didn't let him on a second time...especially since we have a picture of me and ds on the ride. :) :confused3

I will mention though that even though they did meet the requirement of most of the rides, we chose not to let them ride some. For instance, Tower of Terror was a definate no and we also chose not to expose them to Dinosaur in AK. It's a matter of what you feel comfortable with. We just didn't feel comfortable and personally I think ToT is a little too extreme for a 4yo. However, Splash and Thunder Mountain (I don't feel) are intense rides and 1/4 inch wouldn't have been all that distressing to me. Rules are rules though. From what I've read on boards here, there are 3yo who meet the 40 inch requirments and I think that's a bit young for Splash Mountain. This is probably why Disney puts those rules in place. Sadly, we live in a "sue you" society and Disney has lots of money to go around. :(

But I really have to ask how accurate are the measurments? When we went in Sept 06. . .DD (3) was able to ride soarin and test track, but she was not tall enough to ride Dinosaur. She was able to ride Thunder Mountain Railroad and Splash Mountain. She measured almost 40 1/2 inches at the dr office WITHOUT shoes BEFORE we went. . .so I am not sure. Needless to say. . .she (at 3 years old) decided that she needed to wear her Princess shoes and not her crocs because she "gots to ride more with Bubba with the Princess shoes."
