Anybody have some good ideas on how to break a plateau? How many carbs should an average diet have? Any ideas on what a good calorie intake would be?
About me to help answer the questions :flower: late 30s, 5'3 and 150 pounds. I've cut down on my carbs a lot, but a still have a minimal amount. I drink about 80 ounces of water per day too. I just started working out with a trainer yesterday. (Boy, is she tough!) I get to the gym about 6 days a week and do 45 min. cardio and then when I get home I do crunches and floor stuff. One of those days is with Stephanie my trainer, so I do a half hour cardio and then work with her for an hour. I'm holding all my weight in my belly  and would like to lose it.
Any suggestions? Thanks!!!!!

I do South Beach which doesn't have you count carbs so I can't help you with how many you can have and still lose weight. It just says to only have the good ones, i.e. whole grain, fruits, and vegetables. Basically, you are not supposed to have anything white. I lost 35 pounds with it, and it was normal to lose nothing one week and then 3 or 4 the next. With all the exercising you are doing, it will come off! Good luck!

I was stuck at the same weight for 2.5 months (I was eating healthy, working out 4-5x a week, drinking about 100 oz of water per day, etc). I started putting all of my foods on fitday.com and measuring everything and after a week of doing that I finally lost 2 lbs! I try to keep my calories between 1200-1300 per day with a carb/protein/fat ratio of 50/25/25. I think it just depends on your body, everyone is different. You just need to experiment and find out what works best for you.

Good luck and keep up that exercising!!

Thanks for the replies :goodvibes I'm really pushing to lose 10 pounds by the end of Oct. and another 10 by Thanksgiving. My first goal with WISH will be met in 3pounds. It'll be 50 pounds lost :cool1: Right now I just need to jumpstart my metabolism :wizard: I dropped my calories to 1,000ish the last 2 weeks, so I think I need to add in more. Thanks for the fitday link, I'll check them out. :wave2:

Hi Liz - Ive been using fitday.com for a few yrs now.
In 2002 doc told me not to go below 1200 calories. Then I eventually moved up to 1500, then 1800, then maintained at 2100.
Since we came back from WDW Ive been trying to average 1750 calories. Came home with a few extra lbs on my belly - uhhhh
Good luck and give fitday a try.
