I asked this in transport, too. I don't know if that's OK -- to post this question two different locations because I honestly don't know where it should go...

ANYWAY

With the heightened security at airports, do you think it would be OK or not to pack plasticware -- forks, knives and spoons in a suitcase? If you think it would be a problem, then what about if I left off the knife part?

You should have no problem packing that stuff in checked baggage. It would probably be OK in carry-ons too- but you may want to check with the airline. The worse that they'd do is take it from you.

Nowadays, anything I am remotely unsure about with regard to acceptability gets packed into my checked luggage.

You're allowed to pack REAL knives in checked baggage, so I doubt that'd care about plastic ones!
