Hello,

I am planning a trip for Dec for DF and his two nieces they will be 6 & 7. We will be staying in AKL on dinning plan. I guess my questions are things like how long do you think little ones this age can stay up and running around. I've had them outside of park but I think that so different. I'm planning a ton of things to do with them and dont want to overwhelm them or have them so tired they dont enjoy themselves. I was planning to do Mickey's very merry christmas, pirates fireworks, the princess dressup, a campfire, and a few char meals.

Any advice opinions things I shouldn't do should do can't miss please any help is welcome.

I will tell you, my DD's first trip was at 4 1/2 and she wore US out. I never in a million years thought she would be able to "hang" at a park all day, but low & behold, we were begging her to leave MK on our first day at 11 PM.....and we had been there since her 8:30 AM BBB appt. She was a trooper. She crashed hard at night, but she had a blast.

I think your plan is nice. We did a ton of character meals (beats having to stand in line to meet them) and the parties are fun. We've never done the Cmas party, but we are doing the Halloween party this fall and it's our second one.

I'd say with the BBB, since you are going AFTER Halloween and if you think they want the full princess experience, buy them a dress on sale before you go. I did this and it saved me a ton of money and then we just did the hair & make up package at the castle at 8:30 AM and then had a 10 AM breakfast resssie at the castle. It was great.

What a great age and what a great aunt & uncle :)

6 and 7 year olds will be closing down the park :rotfl: Seriously, my DD has ALWAYS stayed up super late at Disney without any meltdowns. That being said, we always take a break in the afternoon to rest and/or cool off (less of an issue in December ;)) and we don't do morning EMHs. We also don't do character breakfasts on a morning after we know we'll be out really late. We stayed at MK two nights in a row til after park closing in October but we made sure we didn't set the alarms the next morning.

Thank you both I will definitely begin to start looking for dresses. =)

I can only comment on our experience, but having a stroller they can share is a Godsend. It really helps to let them rest their feet a bit. We always brought one from home, but you can rent as well (they do cost $$ though).

We've never done the party, as there was always so much else to see and do. My DD isn't "girly" so never wanted to dress up, but I definitely agree with finding a dress ahead of time.

Try to go at their pace, and don't rush. We enjoy stopping for an ice cream or another treat, and just enjoying everything. Sometimes little things are the most fun, like seeing "Push", the talking trash can!

At AKL in December, my kids enjoyed going from the pool to the hot tub one day while DH and I just sat by the pool and read (it was too cool for me, but they had fun).

The decorations are so pretty - try to see if you can go by the GF and see their gingerbread house. All the resorts are decorated so beautifully!

How many days are planning to be down there? That is a lot to pack into 1 trip!

Younger kiddos will be able to go for fairly long, but I would plan to rent a WDW stroller for when they poop out.

MVMCP, BBB, and character meals will most likely be more than enough. I would focus on what they really like to do before settling on your list. It's so hard, I know, you want to give them the world!

Be selective of your character meals, there's no need to have repeat character meals!

Is the trip a surprise or do they know about it? If they know about it, why don't you have a trip planning night? Rent some Disney movies, pop some popcorn, do your own mini BBB makeover, and plan your trip! If they stay over, you can make Mickey pancakes in the morning.
