From Ocean County, NJ...
How many hours till Lumberton,NC?
From Lumberton, NC...
How many hours till Disney (Lake Buena Vista)

I am planning what time to leave each morning and when and where to stop and eat lunch and short breaks.
I already know we are leaving home at 4am to avoid the DC mess.
Our trip home is easy... we are taking the autotrain!:thumbsup2

Thanks,
Vicki

Hi! Another Southern NJ chick here :) Well, a little more south than you...

I haven't charted this out officially but I leave here at 10p and get to WDW around 5p the next day. That is driving straight through - we do not stop on the way down 95S to I4. I am going to look for my notebook for receipts - hopefully I can let you know when I hit that area. I need to start writing that stuff down. :confused3

I will have my 4 and 11 year old traveling with us so breaks are a must. If it was up to my husband he would drive straight through. If it was up to me I would take the auto train down and back (I don't like to fly). This is a compromise.

Lumberton to Disney should take 8-9 hours but it depends on that darn construction in GA and what times you hit Jacksonville and Orlando....also number of potty breaks.

I am driving down from Maine. I am planning a couple of full days. Leaving Friday evening to drive through all the major cities at night, then my girlfriend is gonna switch over driving thru VA-Carolinas and GA. A big break in Jacksonville to see a buddy do a show, then headed down the rest of the way.

...or Santee S.C. or Walterboro S.C.

We like Walterboro for an overnight stop because it's a short drive the next day, while not being too exhausting on the first! We are possibly the same distance as you, so it takes about 11-12 hours to Walterboro, then 5-6 to Disney the next day.

Have you done a Mapquest on the drive, with your stop in the middle. I have found it gives a good approximation of the time. But don't expect it to be exact.

We are a bit south of you in Cape May county. We normally leave the house before 3am and we hit the DC area about an hour before the traffic starts. We stop in Savannah and last year we got there just before 4pm. We stop for breakfast and a potty break or two. We then get up a little early and we are on the road before 9am. Then its less then 5 hours from the hotel to WDW. We get there rested and early enough to enjoy the day at WDW.

We thought about driving straight through but with the kids and getting no sleep the night we leave if we do we feel it would be a wasted day.
