Maybe this is the wrong board, but because it is family related I need help. We have two DD who will both be 2 during our trip (Irish Twins) and both will need naps and do not nap well in strollers. So our original plan was to just go with the flow, but after hearing this weeks podcast I am afraid we will be dissappointed if I don't plan more.

I have planned certain days for certain parks but nothing is set yet other than the first full day we are there because we have CRT reservations for lunch we will be in the Magic Kingdom that day.

How much planning should I do? We will be doing primarily counter service dining but have reservations for CRT, Chef Mickeys, and Whispering Canyon.

Thanks for any help.

We have taken my daughter, currently 2 and a half) to Disney 7 times since she was a year old. We have always just had a loose plan and like you planned to do mostly counter service with a few ADR's. My best advice is to get up early and be at rope drop. The amount of things you can get done before lunch is amazing if you are there when the park opens, especially on Magic Kingdom Extra Magic Hours Morning! We are there at rope drop and hit the most popular rides first. Around lunch time we usually head out and visit a resort food court for lunch or head back to our own hotel. We swim and nap and then head back to the park around 4:00 - 5:00. We usually grab dinner somewhere in the park and finish out the evening. this strategy has worked for us every time and we have been there at off peak times as well as, 4th of July, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter. Hope this helps!

When is your trip? If it is this month then yes you do need to have at least a loose game plan or else you'll end up wandering around not doing anything.

If it is during a slower time then I'd say going with the flow could work but I wouldn't suggest it for someone who didn't know the parks well.

I'd start with looking at the park hours, which ones have extra morning/night hours and work a plan off those. With little ones the morning is better than the night so plan to be up at the crack of dawn and making rope drop each day. That way the kids will be able to go on lots of rides before the lines build up.
Short lines = happy kids and happy parents. ;)

We went when DD was 27 months. My sister had everything planned in half hour increments. We each listed the top things we wanted to do and see and she made a plan for each day. But with that said, we all knew that those plans could fly out the window at any time. All in all we did most of what we wanted.

I have a thread on here with my best tips for toddlers.

I should have added we will be there May 30-June 6 staying at Wilderness Lodge.

From other sources this is supposedly a slow week because most kids are not out of school quite yet and it is just after a holiday (Memorial Day).

it may be busy due to Star Wars Weekends, the 4/3 deal and various other discounts. My kids get out of school May 21st as do all the other schools around here.
We went the week before that last year and it was just starting to really pick up at the end of May/beg of June.
