me & two other friends are planning a trip to WDW sometime this summer, and i know it's really last minute, but we can't think of anywhere else we'd rather go together before we all split for college.

anyway, we're not sure if we should go in June or July. the crowds will be pretty much the same, right? are there certain weeks we should try and avoid (like the first week of july?) we were also wondering how the EMHs work... can anybody who stays at a WDW Resort get a wristband? or is there a limited number of people? and is it worth going to, or will it be completely crowded? if there are any other tips you can give us, we'd be eternally greatful :teeth:

Welcome to the DISboards!!

The earlier in June, the better for lower crowds.
Weeks around July 4th are very crowded.

Morning EMH's are FANTASTIC (lower crowds than at any other time of day.)
Evening EMH's can be very over-crowded... it just depends on who decides to attend.

There are not a "set number" of admissions to EMH... any number of WDW resort guests may attend.

Here's how EMH works for all parks.

Look up the POSTED open and close times for any day, any park.
Only WDW resort guests staying on-property will be allowed EHM privileges and it COSTS NOTHING EXTRA to attend the EMHs.
There are slightly different situations for MORNING and EVENING EMH's.

-------MORNING EMH FACTS--------------------------------------
If it is a MORNING EMH, then WDW resort guests staying on-property will be allowed entry to THAT park on THAT day starting ONE HOUR before the posted opening time.
At least ONE person in your party should have a room key-card with them to verify your current hotel status and gain entry.
So, only WDW resort guests will be ALLOWED INTO the park.
Once inside, only selected attractions will be open.
See the official WDW website for the latest attractions that will be open during EMH.

-------EVENING EMH FACTS--------------------------------------
If it is a EVENING EMH, then WDW resort guests staying on-property will be allowed to stay and ride attractions at THAT park on THAT day for THREE HOURS after the posted closing time.
You do NOT have to be in the park BEFORE scheduled closing time.
You CAN enter the park at any time during EMH and still get a wrist-band.
You can leave and re-enter the park at will (just like any normal time).

(So, YES, if MK is sched. to close at midnight, the EMH will run til 3AM! Yep, that's 3 in the morning. No, its not a mistake, that would be 3 full hours after the posted time. 3AM for a posted 12mid close-time. 3AM, yes sir!)

EACH guest (except for very small children) will need to show a room key-card to a CM at special "EMH kiosks" set up in various locations throughout the park, and a wristband will be snapped on by the CM to each adult and child.
The ride CMs will check these at each attraction before allowing guests to enter the queue.
So, even though non-resort guests may still be INSIDE the park, only those with wrist-bands will be allowed to ride any open EMH attractions.
See the official WDW website for the latest attractions that will be open during EMH.

--------------------------------------------------------------------
You can enter the parks for EMH EVENINGS anytime... during "regular" hours, or even during the actual extended EMH hours.

This 1-hour morning EMH and 3-hour evening EMH rule applies at all 4 parks until further notice from WDW.
Enjoy!

Congrats on having your Senior Trip at Disney! We are doing an Orlando trip for our Senior Trip, and we leave at the end of May. What drew me to the boards was when we started planning our trip, I needed all the help I could get with info, tickets, and so forth. I've been to Disney several times, but this is my first trip on with just my friends. I'm sure you'll have a blast!

To answer a question or two, when we've gone in the past, the beginning of June is a lot better than July. While both may be slightly crowded, as school gets out around then, if you use the right ideas (Fastpasses!), you can get everything you want done. Avoid July 4th and the surrounding days as much as possible! Other than that, you should have a blast!

Just wondering, are you guys staying on-site?

oooo thanks so much you guys!

redsox- yes, we're staying on site. probably at one of the all star resorts, because we're cheap like that. hahaha

First off, congrats on finishing high school! My friends and I took our senior trip last year to WDW and a 3-night Disney cruise. Our parents are all military, and we met in high school in Germany. Before our senior year, 3 of the 5 of us moved back to the states, all over the country. So this trip was a great time to reconnect before we all seperated again for college.

We got to WDW on July 10. Yes it was crowded, but we were pretty much avoiding parks that were having EMH that day. If you do go to a park for EMH, go to the morning. It was always less crowded, IMO.

Also, we found it to be really helpfull to split up during the day and do as we individually wished. For instance, the 3 girls in the group were more into sleeping in, relaxing, riding a few rides, and shopping. The other guy and I were more into hitting the parks early and hard. This really worked out for us, and we all met up for dinner at night (don't forget the reservations at restrauants!) and almost everyday for lunch. I'm not sure of the group you're going with, but this may help if y'all have different agendas.

Again, congratulations on graduating! I hope your trip is magical! pixiedust:
