Ok, I have to call on Monday to make the ressies for our dining at DL and have narrowed it down to a few choices:

House of Blues
Naples (dinner)
Goofy's Kitchen brunch and dinner :lovestruc
Carnation Cafe

I am looking at Steakhouse 55 for breaky or Storyteller's, but not sure if I will pick either. Any suggestions?

Oh, we're staying at Paradise Pier the 4-9 of June.

You will need to call HoB and Naples direct since they are not Disney owned. I also want to add that honestly Naples has some very hit and miss reviews. I have only done the walk up and it was terrible!!!!! Personally if you really want Italian I would do Cantal or go eat at Jazz Kitchen which I think has some of the best food and service at DTD. But that is my opinion :)

Storyteller's and Steakhous 55 offer two totally different options, so hard to compare. Personally I have not had good luck with Storyteller's but I know others here love it, I have heard lots of good things about Steakhouse 55 though.

Sorry to disagree, fairycat, but no, you don't need to call HoB or Naples direct - you can book them through Disney Dining. The only restaurant you have to call direct is Rainforest Cafe.

I'd agree that Jazz Kitchen is a better choice than Naples, though - Naples seems quite expensive for what you get.

We had breakfast at Steakhouse 55 last year and thought it was very good. I think Storyteller's is VERY over-priced for breakfast because of the character aspect of it. So I'd recommend Steakhouse 55 instead unless you really want the characters. Other Downtown Disney restaurants that serve table-service breakfast are Rainforest Cafe, Catal, and La Brea Bakery Cafe - I also enjoyed our breakfast at La Brea (haven't tried the other two).

We tried to book HOB dinner resies thru Disney Dining & were told they weren't booking PS for them. I think they might just do the Sunday Brunch meal...but not sure.

We enjoyed our meal at HOB....the food & service was very good!!

I haven't done either Steakhouse 55 or Storytellers.....not much help on those. Part of the reason we didn't do Steakhouse 55 was the prices.....a little to steep for our budget. Storytellers would not be near as expensive.

Goofy's Kitchen always gets a :thumbsup2 from us!!!

We loved Carnation Cafe....we had breakfast there & enjoyed every last bite!!

Gee, so Disneyland's web page is *wrong* - imagine that.

I know that you can book Naples through Disney, though, because I did it last week.

Opps don't quote me on the PS's I rarely ever make PS's and never in DTD  hehe!

I like Naples! I don't do the walk-up thing - we sit at the table on the outdoor patio and get served. It's good - their smallest pizza is big enough for at least 2 people.

I like Storytellers enough to recommend to someone to try once, but I could really take or leave their character breakfast, and I don't care about the Brother Bear characters too much. The off-the-menu options are too $$$ for the portions you get and the buffet was just so-so to me. But because there are characters there, I would suggest it just to get an extra dose of DLR magic! It doesn't hold the same Disney magic and food variety as Goofy's Kitchen does, in my opinion, but it has some okay things!

I am eager to try Steakhouse 55 because of the good things I have heard about the breakfast, but the menus were a little off-putting. I can always justify spending more $$ on a big buffet than I can on one plate of something at a sit-down restaurant.

Carnation Cafe is good - I like it better for lunch or dinner than for breakfast, but it is an all aorund good place to eat, with a great location for people watching.

Naples or Jazz Kitchen
Do you like Italian food or Southern cooking? Jazz Kitchen is great but they are new age Southern and not like the cooking of a little old creole lady. Like Wolfgang Puck Pizza is nothing like real local made pizza. Great cooking though.

I have done the steakhouse for b fast it was pretty good... Got steak and eggs I think it was about 17 bucks. The dining room was a bid cave like due to the lack of windows but the food was good. No wait either on a Sat morn.

I have eaten at HOB in Las Vegas and New Orleans and they were always very good. I haven't tried the DTD one yet.

We ate at Storytellers on our last trip since we stayed at the GC. I thought there was a strange "vibe" with the waitstaff - not sure what it was ....it wasn't like we rec'd bad service but I don't think we rec'd the full 100% Disney service that we are used too. I orderd the eggs benedict (we ordered off the menu and skipped the buffet). The english muffins they served me (the base of eggs benedict) were BLACK!! I had to send them back. It didn't ruin my time there or anything but it did seem like a careless mistake.

Carnation Cafe is my favorite breakfast place because the food is good plus it inside Disneyland!!

We have done dinner twice and breakfast once at Goofy's Kitchen and enjoyed our time there. I think the food is excellent and the service good.

Since you are staying at PP, have you considered the Lilo & Stitch breakfast in the lobby? I thought the food there was very good - again, we ordered off the menu so I can't comment on the buffet.

Wow! Thanks guys for all your advice!!!! :grouphug:

Here's what I think we'll do:

House of Blues
Naples (I should have mentioned, we've been to Naples and Goofy's Kitchen brunch--loved them both!)
Goofy's Kitchen-brunch and dinner
Carnation Cafe
Steakhouse 55 for dinner (celebrating 3 years of wedded bliss!:lovestruc)

Haven't decided about what to try at PPH. It would be nice to try something there, since we're staying there.

We're gonna try the Creole Cafe since they have things i can eat on the menu. I have severe food allergies and La Brea Express. Passed by that several times last fall and wanted to go in!

Thanks!

Anna

Yamabuki is closing on the 11th of this month. That will leave the main restaurant, PCH Grill and the bar to eat at. I have not heard the fate of the Yamabuki site. They need a second restaurant at the site that is chic like Steakhouse 55 but not as expensive since the hotel is the budget hotel for DLR.

The PCH Grill is excellent.....we tried it for the first time in early March for the Lilo-n-Stitch breakfast & then returned later in the week for dinner. Fantastic service, very good food & affordable with a large family.

I totally agree with you on that. I was given once a delicious meat dish with veal reduction that was like gravy, ooh, excuse me like I savour that moment. They are great with special diets and neurovariants like myself.

I'm just worried about planning how much to bring for meals let alone planning where to eat.
