Planning next trip -- question!

Not sure if this is the right place for this question but figured I have to start somewhere!

My family and I went to DW during free dining this past September. My partner had be there a number of times growing up, too many to count, frankly, but it was the first time for our 3 year old and me. *Both* of them have been begging to go back since we got home. I would like to, for Xmas, tell them I've arranged for us to go back next year.

We really liked the time of year we went, for the weather, because it was fewer people, and of course the free dining. I know we don't know if free dining will happen, it's never a guarantee, but here is my question. If I call up in the next week or two and make vacation plans with DW, and I put my $200 down, then we learn about free dining after that, can I change the trip and take advantage of the free dining?

Absolutely! The only time changes are difficult are after you have made your final payment. There is a window when they charge to make changes, but I am not sure what those are.

But if they do free dining it should be announced in the Spring/Summer and you will have plenty of time to book it.

The only problem would be that they limit the number of rooms available at each resort for the special package (in this case free dining). You do want to call as soon as free dining is announced so you have the best choice of resorts. You can keep an eye out for the announcement on our Codes and Rates board.

You also might think about using a TA that specializes in Disney and specifically watches for the special codes and applies them to your reservation automatically.

Disney has been offering the free dining promo since 2005. The free dining offer should be announced during the first week of April. The first couple of days it will only be open to Disney Visa holders and then will open up to the general public.

Free Dining has been a brilliant plan on the part of Disney to fill the crowds during what was previously their slowest season, and hurrican season to boot. And then having the bounceback for free food while the free diners are there in the parks, on their Disney high, well I would call that pure marketing genius. Disney is making money hand-over-fist with this promotion, I personally don't see Free Dining ending anytime in the near future. So, with the UK and the boucebackers already being offered the free dining for next fall, I would say it's a pretty safe bet free dining will be offered, like normal, this coming April.

The window is 45 days before your trip. That's when the final payment is due and after that point, they charge for changes. However, even then, it is sometimes worth it to make the changes and pay the $50 fee.
