I'm hoping to go to WDW during next year's Food and Wine Festival but here is my quandry:

I really want to stay at either the Boardwalk or the Beach Club. Being a solo traveler, a studio would work fine.

I'm hoping to buy a resale for either of those locations but won't be doing that till after my current December vacation.

On average how long does it take for a Resale to close and become mine?

Would I have much luck booking a reservation for the F&W timeframe when the 11 month window has past since it seems to be a popular time.

Would I be better off trying to rent points for that time at the 11 month window and saving my own points for a later vacation say in February.

So many questions but I knew this was the place to go for answers.

Why pay someone else to use their points when you might have your own? You usually can get into the F&W lodging at 7 months, so you shouldn't have a problem. Get that resale now and have fun next fall.

A resale can take 4-6 weeks to close. Maybe more. Purchase directly through Disney and you can make a reservation immediately.

Does Disney still have Beach Club or Boardwalk available for sale still? I thought they were only available through resale.

I love the idea of staying in a studio, standard view, at the Boardwalk due to the low number of points required. That was one of the important factors for having that as my home base.

Always open for suggestions!

Contact a Guide and ask them about BCV and BWV points. Tell them if they cannot get them for you, you'll go resale. They will put you on a waitlist. Go with any Use Year if you want this to go through quickly.

Interesting!

If Disney does come up with points for BWV or BCV, will they be the same price as they are selling the SSR for right now or will they be higher or lower in cost or close to the price of the resales... around $89/point?

What other tips and hints can you give me?

The price for "sold out" resorts like BCV, BWV and VWL is $95/pt. New members pay minimal closing costs. You get into the system almost immediately and can start making reservations, which is a great plus. And, you can charge it on a credit card and earn miles or rewards, if you want to.

For some resorts, there is a waiting list. For others, you can almost gets points immediately. The minimum is 150 points.

Good luck :thumbsup2 !

Yes, Disney can get you the points. We were on the waitlist to add on points at Boardwalk and we only waited one month. As soon as the points were available in our use year, we got them. I have known some new owners to get their points the same day they called since they didn't need to wait for a specific use year like we did. It's definitely worth calling your guide.

Another suggestion that I have received is to get 100 points at BCV and 150 points at BWV or visa versa.... comments on this??

We have points at both resorts....160 at BCV and 135 at BWV. I bank and borrow for each resort and use the points in the 7-11 month window for pretty much whatever reservation we want....BCV one year and BWV the next with an additional trip to wherever if I end up with too many extra points. We added on at BWV because I wanted the 11 month advantage to stay there and get Boardwalk view or standard view...otherwise it's hit and miss to catch standard view and I have never gotten Boardwalk view without that advantage. When you get both thru Disney, they will have the same use year and at the 7 month mark all the points are available for use as a group because they are all just subcontracts of your main contract.
