We are arriving at disney on Sept 7, 2014. We added an extra day because DD( who will be almost 8 years old when we go) wants to go to Universal and I'm sure she'll also love Islands. With that being said...we'll need to do BOTH parks in one day ;). Will this be possible to do since she isn't a thrill ride person...yet and still loves minions, George and Spongebob? lol . Also, what is the express pass thing and is it worth it? Not sure when down time is at Universal, but I know that September is a slow time at Disney so I'm assuming it's the same for both:confused3

other than Labor Day, the parks won't be crowded.
september is one of my preferred months at the darkside.

with the opening of HP2 this summer, i can't say if the low crowd pattern in september will hold true this year.
i'm sure many will post about their visits once the new section opens.

from what you wrote, sounds like you added a day to the motherland hotel and will be a day guest at the darkside.

arrive at the parks early and make a plan in advance for what you want to do in both parks.

buy a single day ticket and upgrade to a park to park ticket if you have time to do both parks.
you can upgrade while in the park that day.

www.universalorlando.com has info on the parks.
you can check out the rides, eateries, and get a layout of what is included in both of them.

Is it more expensive to upgrade while in the park? Also, are there character meet and greets in the park? My daughter would absolutely LOVE to meet Spongebob and Curious George....lol

Spongebob has meet and greets in his store.Curious George and the man with the yellow hat do meets over in the Kidzone area. You can also meet the Simpsons, ScoobyDoo and Shaggy, Woody Woodpecker. There is a minion in the dance area after Despicable me..Lots of fun!

I would head to the Minion ride first, it can build a line. There is a minion dance party at the end of the ride that is kinda cool.

No.
You pay the difference between what you already have against the upgrade.

I am debating one park or park-park tickets. We will be going for 2 days, but not sure what my 5 and 7 year old will like doing. Can you upgrade at the park if I buy a single park/day ticket and they want to switch?

Yes...Guest Services at either park can upgrade the tickets for you.
