Hello all, please allow me to vent and i'd be happy to hear your thoughts.

We are leaving in 28 days for our frist family disney trip. DW and DS(12). I have been before so have taken on the role of planning.

I have been planning carefully for the last few months.

Today I recieved and email from our travel agent telling us that our flights were cancelled and we had to pick new ones on the same day. So now instead of getting into Orlando around 140pm we now come in at either 430pm or 630pm. Also instead of getting home at 430pm its now 730pm.

I feel like we have lost alot of our first day and i have to change dinner reservations on the first night.

Has anyone experienced this before ? Is it a big deal?

thanks for listening

I feel your pain. I am flying down on AirMiles and have had my flight back changed twice already. I am now arriving on a completely different day than I originally wanted to. I felt like I had to start all over with the planning. I hope they don't change on me again but I have a feeling they will. Not much advice I can offer but here is a hug! :grouphug:

I feel your pain! I put so much effort into picking the flights and then they changed them on me. Now, I get in too late to keep my fantastic ADR and I'm getting home later than I wanted to for DD to go back to school the next day. When I called they told me I could pay extra money and try to change my flights and I thought hello...I paid the money the first time when I made the reservation. I never had this happen before so this was a first. Just trying to make the best of it at this point.
Good luck,
Lucy

This has happen to me 2x, usually when I'm flying the discounted airline (eg usair 3000). Now if I'm going for a long disney vacation (10 or 11 days) I'll role with the punches and leave my travel down day open. If I'm only able to go for a short trip, 4 or 5 days, I leave the discount airlines alone and pay the extra money and get the first flight out of Philly. The extra bucks more than make up for the aggravation, anger and loss ADR's

It's somewhat frustrating when things not under your control are changed, :badpc: but look on the bright side, you're going to Disney!!!!! :bounce:

This happened to us with our flights in January for our cruise. They moved us to earlier flights, which wouldn't give us enough time for disembarking the ship and getting to the airport. I called and they were willing to change them to a later flight at no cost because they were the ones who changed the flight times not me.

I've been watching my flights for Dec and they have only been changed so far by about 1/2 hour.

Could you maybe change the flight to Disney to a day earlier and just stay at a relatively cheap hotel for the night? Then you'd have your entire first day AT Disney!!

I hate when that happens! I'm always traveling on someones pass, or FFmiles, so I'm sort of prepared for it to happen. Whenever possible I try to "pad" my trip. I always plan an extra day in the beginning of the trip. We never plan on going to the parks that first day, it's just a day to chill and relax before the grand adventure starts. That way I don't feel like I've lost time if we get there late. And it gives me time to unwind from work before we tackle the parks. Not only that since my daughter already knows we're not going to the park, it cuts back on the whining!
