Planning for October 2014- advice on dates?

Columbus Day is always on a Monday; this year it's Monday, October 13, 2014. This is also Canadian Thanksgiving. Many states give that day off from school, and I know quite a few Universities/Colleges schedule a fall break to incorporate at least that Monday and Tuesday. Might make a difference in your planning. Also, the times we've been to WDW in early October, the weather has been hot (think upper 80s) and very humid. I don't know if that's standard or was just the 3 times we were there. It's better than August, but not really comfortable!

We were there for 12 days last Oct. From about the 3th to the 15th. The first week was very light, and wasn't a ton of people. We have gone down around this time for about 10 or 12 years now. It has gotten a busier and we are noticing the difference. It has still been a lot better then a lot of other times.

However, we did not get our MNSSHP tickets as soon as we got there. That was a big mistake! I did all the Wreck It Ralph costumes for our group of 15 or so, and we could only get 9 tickets! Never had a problem in the past, but MNSSHP sold out for the entire Oct 10-15 weekend. We usually wait till we get down there so we can get some CM tickets, Military tickets and AP tickets, as we don't know till the last minuet just how many people will really be going! Last year we had over 25 signed up on the trip list, and some cancelled the last several days before the trip....

I think with the added on MNSSHP days that have been added on over the last several years, and the added F&W days that this time of year is really becoming more and more popular. But still doable.

Looking at Oct 16th weekend for MNSSHP. Some of us go down for only that weekend, some of us go down for the weekend before or after also...still working on the exact time.
