Our family was planning a vacation to Disneyland last summer, but had the opportunity to change our plans and did so, partly based on all the Starwars Land uncertainty, partly based on some amazing deals we got on flights elsewhere. Fast forward to this coming summer. It has now been three years since we’ve been to Disneyland, the longest amount of time we’ve been away since the early 2000’s! I haven’t been on these boards in a while, so I thought I’d check and see if anybody has any idea of anything happening mid July that we should be aware of when picking our dates. On our last trip MaxPass had just started. We didn’t get it that trip, so this will be our first experience with MaxPass, fist time with mobile ordering, first time on the Incredicoaster, first time in Starwars Land. A lot changes in three years!! I’m so excited to get back. :)

We will be there as well so I’ll be following this thread. We haven’t been since 2013 but are excited to see what’s new and spend a few days in DL.

We haven’t been since March 2016! We are also planning a July 2020 trip, so I’ll be following this thread as well.

To keep up to date on MP: Maxpass/Fastpass Superthread: an overview and some strategy -- read the first post and ask all MP questions there -- you'll get great help!

For some of the changes since 2015: First trip since October 2015 - what's new?
Have fun planning your trip -- July should be a great time!

Thanks for those links. I haven’t yet started reading in earnest but having those in one place will be so helpful! I’ve read through a bit on MaxPass but the others are new to me.

Our previous trips have all been in the summer and we love it. Yes it can be warm but we like the long park hours. We are staying across the street for the first time - BWPPI in a mini suite. We have always stayed a little further away at Homewood Suites and taken ART. We didn’t mind the shuttle but wanted to try staying closer and being able to walk.

I think you’ll love being right at the crosswalk. We have stayed there a few times, and it’s so handy for breaks, especially in the summer. And I completely agree...summer is great!

We are also going during July 2020!!! We are staying at DI@S which is also right across the road. We use to stay a couple of blocks away but we love, love love to be close!!! We are walkers but didn't think it would be a big deal, but it is so handy and convenient. I've went back to the hotel for things that I never would of before and at the end of the day, oh yes, right there!!!

We are also staying at DI&S. It isn't luxury, but we need a suite with four beds, and their price is very reasonable. Plus having 1 1/2 bathrooms is nice with 5 people. And yes, so close!

Mid July for us. We’ve been in July when there’s been a heat wave, and we’ve been in July when the weather has been lovely. I’m hoping it will be cool!

Last time we were there in July it was lovely. Highs in the upper 80s. Hoping for that again but if not we will be fine.

We are booked for third week in July. Will be our 1st trip! This is my 8 year old's birthday request.

July 20-30 for us!!!
How nice! Do you have AP’s? I need to do some research to figure out what type of tickets to get for our trip. We are going for five days. I’m not sure if we’ll need Maxpass for all the days we are there, but it may be easier to buy the tickets with it attached rather than having to buy it in the morning once we get to the park. We usually buy our tickets from Get Away Today and buy the peace of mind insurance. That saved us one time when we had to cancel a trip. I also think it would be nice to get them before the yearly price increase happens.

Anyone else on this thread want to chime in on what they are doing about tickets?

I get 5 day hoppers with no maxpass. We are there long enough and love doing all the rides (not just the big ticket). I do get maxpass on one ticket for the pictures (we love ride photos and its cheaper than photopass plus). We like to have a few down days in between and we are planning on doing sea world this year as well. We drive for 20 plus hours from Canada so try to get the most in we can. Looks kind of like this:
day 1 DL
day 2 CA
day 3 off (swimming, shopping etc)
day 4 DL and CA
day 5 Sea World
day 6 off (beach?)
day 7 DL and CA
day 8 off
day 9 DL and CA
We find with off days my kids do way better at going all day and getting the most out of our time there. We do 5 days from opening till about 9ish and we still don't get everything we want done!!! Of course we do certain rides 20 times as well lol!!!
