I just booked the air fare and I am waiting on a quote back from a travel agent to see if it is any cheaper than booking straight with Disney. I am so excited. We will be there from Jan 2-7, 2011.

This is our first time ever going. I would appreciate any tips/tricks. I can see I will be spending a lot of time reading through the boards!!!

We are also surprising our kids Christmas morning with the news of out trip. I am not sure yet how we are going to do it.

Thanks,

Misty

Hi Missy, would be glad to help, I love planning WDW trips. I will be there 11/11 - 11/16. Go pretty much every year And have learned that having a plan before you go is a must.

:welcome: to the DIS! Here's your first couple of tips.
1. Did you know that you can take advantage of the free dining promotion during your trip? See here for details: http://www.wdwinfo.com/disneypackages.htm#general
If you are staying onsite (highly recommended), you can save a bundle.
2. My number one tip for anyone, but especially for first timers... go to your local bookstore and get a copy of The Unofficial Guide to Disneyworld (UOG). Or perhaps, depending on your kids' ages, UOG with Kids. This book has more tips and tricks than you can shake a stick at. :goodvibes

Get a Guidebook!:thumbsup2

The most recommended are the "Unofficial Guide" and "Passporter's".

Both are heavy for taking to the Parks but great refferances to have with you.

Thanks! I will definitely buy the guidebook. I love these boards! I have already found out so much more than I ever thought possible!!

Hi and welcome! Yeah this site is a bit overwhelming, so have fun, lol. We'll be there around the same time! We're going from the 1st-6th, well leaving the 6th. That's really cool how you're going to wait until Christmas morning, that was our plan too but I couldn't hold it in, lol! :rotfl: How old are your kids?

How old are your kids?

They are 10 and 6 (will be 7 before we go).

We are arriving around 3pm on Sunday. I think Magic Kingdom had EMH until 1:00am. I am wondering if we should try to check it out. We have a 5 day ticket and I don't think we will have enough time to hit a park on the day we leave.

We'll be getting there about lunch time on Saturday. We plan on just going to downtown Disney and going to Epcot for the light show that day. We missed it last time we went since it was towards the end of our vacation and having a 2 year old, lol. Have fun planning!
