Here is my question. We will be traveling to WDW May 21-30. We are celebrating the fact that my Mom will be five years cancer free this month. I would love it if Disney helped make it extra special by letting her be grand marshal of a parade. Unfortunately, we are renting a house offsite. Do you think that will make any difference if I write to them? Also any tips and hints to make this trip special would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!!!

No advice (other than trying to write Guest Relations at WDW with your questions). You can find an email address at the official Disney site.
Just wanted to send you some Pixie Dust for a great trip.

If it was possible for you or a family member to be at the park before opening, and talk to one of the CM's I feel certain that they could help make the day special. It won't hurt to try. And tell your mom, congrats on being a survivor and to have an awesome time.

That's terrific! I'm so happy for your Mom. Give her my best and tell her that life only gets better. I am going to DW in June and I will be celebrating my 20th anniversary of beating breast cancer. Yes, life goes on and it only gets better!

I hope Disney will do something great for your Mom!

Even if Disney can't accommodate your wish, have you considered contacting Jane at Gifts of a Lifetime??

She's really great at creating special events to help celebrate momentous occasions (and I would say 5 yrs cancer-free is definitely worth celebrating!!)

If you're at all interested, her website is www.giftsofalifetime.com I think.

What a wonderful thing to celebrate!! Best wishes to your mom! I would write guest relations as suggested above and see what they say. But you could also do something special like have a celebration basket waiting for her at your rental house etc. I'm sure the trip in itself will be a wonderful celebration!

What a great thing to celebrate!!!! How about asking at Animal Kingdom if you could be one of the families that rides in the floats during Mickey's Jammin' Parade! Now that would be a memory.

FarelPeg - Congrats on your 20 years! It's only been 2 1/2 years for me but your anniversary gives me great hope. Until then I will enjoy spending time with DD (10) and DS (8) at WDW! Making memories is what it's all about!

I just wanted to say congratulations on your Mom's 5 years! That is truly something to celebrate and be thankful for!

Congratulations to your mom!!!

Tell your Mom congratulations! I know how important this date is! We celebrated my niece's five years off chemo almost three years ago. She was seven when she was diagnosed. I think most of us cried tears of happiness all day long. We celebrated her off chemo in Disney. But for her five years, she just wanted a big party at home with all her family and friends.

Don't know if Disney can do something special, but if not, what about a dinner reservation at a really nice restaurant? And definitely have one of the special family portraits done. There are professional photographers in the parks. Don't have all the details but I'm sure guest services would. It took the support of the entire family to get her through it and I am sure she would love to have a picture of her loved ones having a great time in her honor.

Once again, congratulation!
