Planning another magical 5th birthday

Both days sound great! Chef Mickey's & Garden Grill should both be wonderful!

Ah the last night :( I like your plan to just soak in as much as you can!

I feel like I missed so much while I was gone! your movie nights look fun as always and your daily plans sound good too! the Sophia dress looks great! and if she loves it, even better! I always think changing up a pattern will be so easy too and end up taking way longer then I thought. it always looks so easy in my head!

Thanks! Chef Mickey's was one of Doug's only requests. It was one of his favorites last time. I am excited to try Garden Grill.

thanks! I know. Sometimes it seems to come together better than other times too. This was not one of those times. :)
I can't wait to hear all about YOUR trip!!

This weekend we had our Wreck It Ralph movie night.
I tried to make "cupcakes" out of meatloaf, mashed potatoes, and peas. The peas would look like Sour Bill. The kids thought that was fun. We drank some diet pepsi to be like the cola in the volcano.

For dessert we each got a plate with some candy, apples, peanut butter, pretzel sticks, and mini doughnuts on it to make our own Sugar Rush cars.
We were originally going to use twinkies or wafer cookies but I decided to do apples instead- not as easy to work with but at least something that wasn't candy. We used the Peanut butter to stick it all together. Everyone had fun doing this. Here are our cars....

I have no idea what Abi was doing here with all her tires on top... :goodvibes

And I turned around to get a picture of Maddy's and it was already being eaten.

photo77.jpg

For our activity (after making and eating the cars) I had pictures of Vanellope for the girls to color.

Maddy was so proud of her finished picture.

Abi didn't get to the background. She was too into the movie. We had a great time!

Wreck it ralph is one of my favorites!! Great choice for movie night! The apple/candy cars are too cute and a great idea! We might have to steal that idea!

Me too. It is such a good movie! Thanks. It worked out well. They may not have looked as much like cars as they would have if we had gone with another kind of base... but we were all sick from so much sugar anyway so it was so nice to have the apple there. It tasted great too. :goodvibes

Sounds so fun!! :)

Thanks!

Hey everyone! Sorry I have been so bad at updating this PTR! A really bad cold has been making its way through our family. It has been pretty miserable.
I was hoping Doug would get through without catching it but then last night he started having the symptoms. Ughhh. Abi seems back to normal and Maddy and I are at the end stages I think. (I hope.) so we just need to push through and hopefully by the end of this week we will all be back to normal.
So, today I will try to get all of the things that happened before I got sick on here and the few things I have been able to accomplish the past few days after feeling better.
But first:
Exciting news.
Last week we got these in the mail....

And yesterday we got these!!:cool1::cool1::cool1:

Suddenly feeling SO real!!

I was able to get a lot of sewing done the past few weeks.
After I finished Abi's Sofia the first costume/dress I started on her apron/ruffle skirt for Hollywood Studios. It also has a Sofia theme. I was able to use some of the leftover fabric from the dress for the ruffles.
Here is the front:

Now I just need to finish the shirt and shoes that go with it!

We had our Princess and the Frog movie night.
It was a really fun (and tasty) one.
I used our Disney Princess cookbook again.
It had a recipe for Bayou meatloaf but I just used my own recipe since it is the only kind of meatloaf I have ever tasted that I liked.
I also made Southern Spoonbread from the cookbook (tastes like cornbread but a little gooey.) and we had corn with it.
For a drink we had Swamp water. (green kool aid)
For dessert I attempted to make beignets. They were good but not as good as I imagine real beignets are... but I have never had them.
And I threw out some chocolate frogs.

For our activity we played pin the kiss on the frog. The girls came closest.

I used the same ruffle/apron pattern to make the matching Frozen skirts for Abi and Maddy.

Now I have the shirts left to do.

Our Cinderella movie night was a lot of fun!
We gathered some of our Cinderella themed toys to decorate the table as well as Abi's big pumpkin.

photo123.jpg

photo124.jpg

We each had the small pumpkins at our place because I served Gus and Jacque's cheesy potato soup inside the pumpkins.

photo126.jpg

We also enjoyed breadsticks, Sprite, and the cupcakes from the first two pictures.

photo125.jpg

Abi had a school project where they had to pick a book and make a pumpkin to look like a main character from the book. They then had to take the pumpkin into school and read their favorite part of the book to younger kids.
She worked on painting her pumpkin while we watched the movie.

Maddy played with her Cinderella Lego Duplos.

Here is Abi's finished pumpkin if you want to see it: Pinkie Pie from My Little Pony and Pinkie Pie Pony Palooza.

Okay so here is the other big project I finally finished!
Originally a few months ago when I asked Maddy (casually of course :goodvibes ) what kind of dress she would want if we went to the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique someday, she said she wanted Aurora's blue dress.
So, when I went fabric shopping I based the fabric choices on my design for that.
Of course, she has since changed her mind to wanting a Cinderella blue dress. :headache: So I figured I would just use the pattern I used for Abi's Sofia dress and it would be really easy since it was a Cinderella dress and it would need pretty much the same colors anyway.
I was able to finish the dress before I got sick.
But I wasn't really happy with it. I didn't feel like the colors went as well with a Cinderella look as they did with my original Aurora design. And it just felt like it was missing something.
This is what the dress looked like:

For the past week I have been agonizing over it wanting to figure out a way to make it feel done to me.
Finally I thought, what if I use the leftover bodice and puff fabrics to make ruffles around the bottom of the dress. That would tie in those colors a little more and make it a little more feminine/ fancy.
Yesterday I spent a few hours making the ruffles and then last night I stayed up way too late :rolleyes1 attaching them.
I have to say I feel like it made a HUGE difference and now I finally feel happy with the dress.

Here it is now:

Thank you! I really do love sewing. But I think this trip I have made myself too many projects and now I kind of want to put my sewing machine away for a while!:rotfl:

Yeah, being sick is not fun. It's still holding on today but I really hope the next couple of days will see a change. I am going to be scouring the house today with Lysol. :)
I know! I can't believe it. The trip has felt so far away for so long and now it's less than a month away! Crazy!:cool1::cool1:
Thanks! I really hope she will love the Cinderella dress.

Thankfully Abi seems perfectly fine now. Maddy is still holding on to the sniffles and I am hoping she is out of the woods. And really hoping she doesn't get the pink eye Doug has had. She isn't as good at remembering not to touch her face and eyes.... But he seems a little better and I am just holding on to some congestion and coughing now. Ughhh. Colds are so annoying. They just seem to last soooo long!

Thank you! And we have had a lot of fun with the recent movie nights.

oh my gosh! missed a few days and you updated like crazy!
