I am planning on asking my GF to marry me on our next disney trip. It is coming up fast. I was wondering if anyone had any ideas about good places to do this? Also if anyone has done this and can give me some pointers or advice on the place to propose. I really apreciate your help!

I am just out of college..figured you guys could give me some advice on what a girl in her mid 20's would enjoy the most

Thanks

One time when I was in Disney we were at Cinderella's Castle Royal able in the evening and I guy got down on his knees and ask his girlfriend to marry him. Everyone in the restaurant cheered!!. It was not only romantic but an appropriate place. Good Luck :cheer2:

You can also get the CM's to help and Photo CM's to record it in front of the castle during the fireworks. There has been others on the DIS that have done the same thing.

Honestly, think about her. Do you think she wants a proposal that will be seen by many? (ask the CMs guarding the castle walkways if you can slip up there to do it in front of the castle at night)

Or do you want a more private setting? (on the beach of Seven Seas lagoon after Wishes ends or on a Wishes Cruise on the lagoon and propose around the fireworks)

It all depends on how intimate a setting you want. Whatever you choose, I hope it works out!

I agree with teh fish, when my fiance proposed it was in our hotel room. It was still romantic, and he knows how shy and uncomfortable I get when attention is drawn to me. To me it was perfect, and I wasn't self conscience.

There are a few girls on the wedding board that were proposed to on the beach at The Poly during Wishes. Or you could try to rent a pontoon boat for the fireworks if you think she'd want something more private.

Good luck! pixiedust:

I think I may have told you this on another board, but in case I didn't - my fiance proposed behind the Castle after Wishes. He had a cast member working under the Castle video tape it and it was absolutely perfect! If you can, try to get it on videotape - everyone who can't be there with you will really love seeing it. :)

Our porposal was done in a very private setting. I used one of the gazebos at PO next to the river at sunset. It was perfect IMO ( and free ).

Also, I did this at the first evening so my DW could bask in the engagment glow for the entire trip.

Go to France in world showcase two hours before illuminations and get a nice table next to the pastry shop and have french wine and desserts..and pop the question during illuminations (i dont know if thats too corny for ya lol)

I proposed right out of college at WDW. Unfortunately, that engagment never turned into marriage but it is a nice memory. The central hub around the castle has changed a bit since I did this but I think there may still be some benches near the partners statue. I sat her on the bench telling her that I wanted to rest a bit and enjoy the view in front of the castle. Once she was seated, I got on my knee and popped the question in front of the castle. She loved it.

The only thing that may throw you off with this spot is the attention you may get while doing it. A lot of people stopped to watch us and clapped for us afterwards but I think she ended up enjoying the experience even more knowing that I had the guts to lay it on the line with no care of others around us.

So, yeah, that's my story...good luck!

You can check out my very first podcast episode (marked introduction to the Menadering Mouse) which contains this story. Info below.

Congrats ahead of time! I have a few suggestions:
1. You may want to post this under theme park attractions. You may get more hits on it. Or post a topic about Disney proposals

2. You could try www.giftsofalifetime.com. They plan neat things like scavenger hunts and stuff. They may be able to help you plan something.

3. You could try and call the Disney Fairytale Wedding people. Maybe they could help you plan your proposal.

4. With Disney the possibilities are endless. Does she have a favorite ride or character? Favorite place to eat there? Where are you staying? If you're staying on-site the concierge would be able to help you too.

Good luck!

I like the idea of poly beaches during wishes. Maybe if you are staying at the CR you could get a MK room and do it on the balcony during wishes. Another idea in the MK during EMH you could try to go to the Swiss Family Tree House it is generally secluded and kind of romantic, try for the top it has the best view of the fireworks. Just a few suggestions hope it helps.

I would also sugest the rose garden next to the Wedding Pavilion next to the Grand Floridian. It has the princess songs (someday my prince will come, a dream is a wish your heart makes, etc.) playing and you can dance there for a lil bit and then pop the question when you are ready with Cindy's Castle in the background.

If you have something more spacific in mind... and special... if you just talk to Guest Relations they can help you make the moment all the more special (like by taking pictures, video, even just making sure the area is open to guests, etc.).

I'll suggest either the little fountain next to the castle (such a small secluded romantic spot) or order the cinderella shoe dessert and get a CM to slip the ring in.
Congrats anyway, let us know what you decide.
p.s. where do people find romantic WDW guys?

As duckfan78's new fiance I just wanted to thank everyone for all the suggestions  Everything went just right and I am still glowing :cloud9:

Just as an added note... one morning we were watching TV and of course I was browsing the DIS and saw DFi's original post and showed it to him!! Of course I had no idea it was him, I told him that he should take a hint from this guy!! :lmao: If only I knew...

Congrats duckfan78 & tink_n_pooh :cheer2:

Now how did he pop the question? :rolleyes1

I would suggest doing it on top of the Contemporary. You could have dinner at the California Grill (which is a little expensive, but worth it for the special occasion), and then watch Wishes on the observation deck. Then after Wishes you could propose. I have been up there many times on dates and it is VERY romantic. I think that would be a great way to get engaged.
