I am planning on asking my GF to marry me on our next disney trip. It is coming up fast. I was wondering if anyone had any ideas about good places to do this? Also if anyone has done this and can give me some pointers or advice on the place to propose. I really apreciate your help!

I figured you guys fresh back from WDW would have the freshest ideas! please let me know what you think or maybe you just got engaged down there??

Well we might but your post is off topic for this board. You might have more luck on these boards:
Disney for Adults and Solo Travelers
Disney Tips
Disney Wedding and Honeymoons (because after she says yes, this is your next step so this might be the best)

I'm sure whatever you do will be great!

Do you want something private or would it be okay to share the experience with some onlookers? The reason I ask is because just about any of the upscale restaurants onsite are more than willing to work with someone looking to make is a very special occasion.

Several have posted about having the engagement ring delivered to the table along with dessert. There is one in particular that is served in a glass slipper.

I think it would be fun to have one of the characters like Goofy or Chip/Dale drop to one knee in front of GF and pretend to propose and while she is laughing and playing along...you could be ready and waiting to do the real thing!

I like the one about a character proposing and then you do the real deal. I think it is sweet and cute and will be less expected and not like the predictable over dinner thing.

I think it would be hilarious as you could really ham it up and act like you're jealous and being provoked into doing the same thing, but when she sees the ring and realizes it is really happening I'll bet she'll just be overcome with emotion...and think of the great story you'll have to tell your kids someday about how you had to steal their mom back from Goofy!

Suggestions from an admittedly sappy chick:
1-Go to the little rose garden between Tommorowland and the Castle to watch Wishes; Tinkerbell will fly right over you! The soundtrack for the show is all about dreams and wishes coming true. Just imagine: standing with your arms around your honey while the sky explodes around you and as the show draws to it's finale, you drop to one knee (you MUST do this, you know) and make all her wishes come true!
2-Spend the big bucks for the Illuminations pontoon cruise (about $125 I think) or the REALLY big bucks for the Breathless cruise. Pack a picnic with champagne - you could probably arrange this through one of the shopping services or the concierge desk at your resort or when you book the pontoon reservation. The boat leaves from the Boardwalk marina and cruises around the Swan, Dolphin, and Yacht and Beach Club before parking just past the bridge that goes between France and UK. A little more privacy and a very special ambience.
Can you tell that I'm a hopeless romantic with a vivid imagination?

Great idea liv4pixiedust -

I think a cruise is a great idea - or anything involving the fireworks. There are MANY magical options!!

If you search on the theme park, wedding and honeymoon board, and adult board you may find some ideas :)

The Stars Are Shining Event Engagement Event

Ralph wanted to surprise Kim (Their names have been changed at their request) for an engagement. It seems she had, in the past, joked with him about being famous some day and having fans come up to her and ask for her autograph. She had said this to him last year during the Super Soap weekend. The Pixies figured Kim might like a little taste of stardom for a day and that we could somehow weave the engagement into it.

On the day of their event Ralph and Kim entered the park as they normally would. Half way down the street someone acting as a star-struck young man asked Kim for her autograph.

Kim was puzzled but took the book and signed it. Then the pixie playing the young man's mother asked Kim if she would take a photo with her son. Kim, extremely puzzled, said yes. After the photo the "mother and son" team walked away talking about how "his friends would die when they saw who he had a picture of."

About the time that Kim and Ralph reached the corner of Sunset and Hollywood this happened again but this time it was two girls. They asked Kim if the Lucky character on General Hospital was as cute as they thought. Kim told them she didn't know what they were talking about and they giggled and snapped a few photos before running off.

Kim and Ralph got to the line at Tower of Terror and this time someone wanted photos and and Ralph's autograph. Ralph, who of course knew exactly what was going on, played it up a bit. Kim was just shocked at the whole thing. "Who do you think we are?" she kept asking. But everyone just laughed off her questions.

The Disney Cast Member in the lobby who was watching what was going on and thinking they really were some type of of celebrities, asked Ralph if they wanted a private show to avoid the crowds. This was a surprise and not in the plans, but luckily Ralph rolled with it and replied "No, we love to meet our fans." (Way to go Ralphy boy!).

We had set it up so that we had pixie 'fans' in front them and behind them so that they were surrounded on the Tower of Terror for the drop with 'fans' who said things like "OH my Gosh I am going to HAVE to buy the photo. Look who is sitting in front of us!" By now Kim was starting to laugh at the whole thing as she didn't have a clue what was going to happen next.

When the ride ended and they left the building we had two pixies standing at the entrance popping their flash on the cameras and the pixies from the ride followed them out and asked for autographs. Some other guests were watching and trying to figure out who these people signing autographs were.

One 'fan' with a video camera came up and asked Ralph if he could say something for the camera. Ralph laughed and asked "Well, like what?" The 'fan' replied, "This tape will be kept forever - How about something really meaningful?" Ralph thought for a moment, then took Kim's hand, got down on one knee, and asked her to be the only star in his life.

When he took out the ring Kim realized THIS was NOT acting anymore and she started crying. She jumped up and down and said yes about, oh, 50 times. The crowd that gathered, cheered and the director yelled . . . . Oh wait, this is real life, we didn't have a director. . .that would be another event!

That's sweet.

Just think back on all of the things you have ever talked about. Is she sappy and romantic (I am) or more practical? Imagine blowing her away. You are honoring one another with your lives forever.

Whatever you do practice what you are going to say, a lot. Get down on one knee. I know it's so corny but it means so much to a lot of women.

My friend took his girlfriend and proposed on the steps of the Castle. It was really beautiful and she talks about it all the time. They have been married for 5 years now.

Last week, we had the company Gifts of a Lifetime plan a scavenger hunt in the MK for my D5 birthday. It was great!! I contacted Jane through their website (same name) and she took care of everything. Their "pixies" hid clues through out the park to find her presents and a special gift for her helper brother. It took about 1.5 hours and included 3 rides which I choose. I know they also do events in the different parks for engagements. Well worth every penny.
