I am going with my husband and 6 year old son in July. This is my first trip since I was 18 and my husband and child's first trip ever. So here is what I have planned to try for fast passes. I understand that a few may not be possible and I will just use a backup. I appreciate any advice since I am new to the disney planning.

Monday: Magic Kingdom. We have no adrs but do have a 3 pm pirates league appointment and then the Pirates and pals fireworks cruise. So my plan is to schedule all my latestes fatpass starting at one on his day.
Big thunder mountain, space mountain, and splash mountain

Tuesday: Hollywood studios. we have a 12:15 adr and and sci if at 7 and we have fantasmic reserved seating.
I plan to pick all fast passes between 2 and 6 but will pick what is available for toy story.
Toy story, tower of terror, and star tours.

Wednesday: Magic kingdom: We have a 7:15 pmchef Mickeys adr
This is my most flexible day because I know I may not be able to get times at all. I thought I was going to get off easy having a boy and dodge the Frozen madness but my little one informed me he just had to meet Anna and Elsa.
7D mine train, Peter Pan, and Ana and Elsa. Will do enchanted tales with belle as a backup. I know I need to book Ana and Elsa and mine train first as soon as my window opens.

Thursday: Animal Kingdom. No adrs.
Kilimanjaro safaris, Kali river Rapids, and expedition Everest. I am not sure what times I should pick for this day.

Friday: Epcot and 7pm garden grill adr
Test track, mission space and then maybe Figment. With the tiering I had trouble finding a third fast pass I just had to have.

My husband does not like to have things preplanned so I tried to do as little as possible but still make sure we got the must does in. Any advise is greatly appreciated.

First, have you checked to make sure these are the least crowded days for each park? I have been in July a couple of times and am going agin this July and it is very hot and crowded. Picking the least crowded days is important. You need to be there for rope drop. You will get a lot done in that first couple of hours and the heat will be more bearable. I strongly recommend a mid day break out of the sun, not FP ion the hottest part of the day. Also, doing earlier fast passes, you may be able to get another for later in the evening. Preplanning Disney is almost a necessity in my opinion. (I know others have done it with no planning). July is busy and your son will want to do and see a lot, but will tired out quickly!

Animal Kingdom: I would do Safari ( no fast pass), EE (no fast pass), Dinoland stuff, ITTBAB. We use fast passes here on the shows, characters (if you want to see them) and Kali. The rest can be done without fast passes. Save the shows and Kali for the afternoon to stay cool.

Epcot: Figment is definitely not worth the fast pass, but if you are doing spaceship Earth, I'd use it on that or Nemo

Hollywood Studios: If you do TOT one of the first things, you don't need a fastpass, that day looks like a long day for you. Maybe look at taking that mid day break. There are not enough places to escape the heat IMO at this park. Even a lot of the shows are outside. Maybe consider The Frozen sing along for a fast pass in the afternoon (Its air conditioned)

Good luck planning and stay cool and hydrated.

Ask him if he likes standing in lines for hours and eating french fries every meal? Disney requires some amount of planning. We did our planning but were able to maintain spontaneity by doing rope drop, having our FP+ reservations between 10-1, then we had flexibility in the afternoon to do more rides/hop to another park/go back to resort for pool or nap, etc.

It sounds like you have a good plan. Note that Epcot has evening EMH Friday nights. Park might be fine in the morning but will likely get more crowded in the afternoon. My only suggestion would be to switch AK/Epcot, I am assuming with a 6yo you are not staying at Epcot late Friday night? After an AK day, we like hitting Boma for dinner at Animal Kingdom Lodge.

Your FP+ return times will depend on your touring strategy. Are you getting there at rope drop? Are you staying all day? Are you planning afternoon pool breaks? Hot and crowded, I would highly recommend getting to the parks before they open. Personally I prefer FP+ between 10am-1pm, then you can try getting more FP for the afternoon as early as possible. And if you are melting/melting down, you have the flexibility to escape the park for a few hours to cool off.

Magic Kingdom: Space Mountain may be rough for a 6yo?
On first MK day, I would go straight to 7DMT at rope drop, then do Fantasyland rides standby (PP & Pooh first, then Dumbo, Teacups, etc). Then you can have your FPs late morning/early afternoon for Thunder and Splash. On the second day, you will have your 7DMT/A&E FPs, you can either do 7DMT at rope drop again, or head to Thunder/Splash at rope drop. I assume you are staying onsite and are booking 60 days in advance? You should be okay, I think 7DMT and A&E fill up 30-40 days out.

Hollywood Studios: TSMM/ToT/Star Tours are the three FP we get. This might be a good half day with pool break: TSMM at rope drop, then your three FP before lunch. Pool break in afternoon and come back for dinner. Note that FP return hour windows cannot overlap, but FP and ADR can overlap.

Animal Kingdom: FP times you pick depends on your plans for the day. Hot and crowded, I would say do stuff at rope drop, then afternoon either shows inside, or back to pool? With 7yo, we did Everest at rope drop, then used Safari/Kali/Everest FP in that order. Everest goes backwards in the dark, might be tough for 6yo? Could also go to Safari at rope drop to ride standby first. You'll also want to think about the order of your FP to minimize walking back and forth across the park.

Epcot: Spaceship Earth can get 30+ minute waits, that would be a better choice than Figment. I'd recommend doing Soarin first at rope drop if you're using FP on Test Track.

I found it helpful to go to Youtube and watch a couple videos about scheduling and making changes to existing FP+. One tip I found helpful was- they will give you 4 time slot options after you pick your 3 FP+, pick the option farthest from the times you want. That way it's easier to go back and change them to the times you actually want.

OP tell your sexy dh "to shut it" lol your doing the all the planning.

We are planning to do rope drop. I am not worried about my 6 year old being scared of rides or dark. We will play break and leaving the parks by ear and it will probably be me that needs a break. My child can stay up late on weekends and still wakes up before 7.

You should make sure you plan for the Pirate League timing with your fast passes the first MK day. You should be there 15min and plan for 45min long appt. so I wouldn't plan fast passes for anything from 2:45 to 4:15pm.

Can you provide any links or hints to find these youtube videos?
