i have been planning my ADRs for our sept trip, and thought we would try for an early ADR (around 5 or 5:15) at either chef mickey's or 1900 park fare.

BUT now i'm wondering if it will be a mistake to book something for that night. we're not doing a park on arrival day, plan to spend time in DTD instead. we'll be arriving around 9:30 or 10am, and will probably have been up from about 3:00am! :scared1: i am worried that if we don't get into our room early to have time for the kids to nap (DS4 and DD2), they'll be way too tired & cranky to go to a TS dinner. :confused3

what has worked for your families on the first day in this type of situation?

I think you'll be fine. if for some reason your room is not ready, go to the GF early and have the kids hang out at the beach and rest on the chairs there and get some down time. Plus for adrs at 1900, you can always cancel or not show up if you feel the kids won't make it thru the meal.

We do the same thing. We do not do any parks on our first day but we always schedule Chef Mickey's for around 5:00 pm. We usually fly out on a 6:00 am - 7:00 am flight. That allows time for flight delays and Magical Express to get you to the resort. Do take a change of clothes and necessities to freshen up in your carry on because Magical Express can take awhile to get your luggage to your room.

We used to do TS on our first day but on the past 2 trips have just gone to either a water park or DTD on day 1 - and grabbed CS on the run :) I am excited for my next trip to go to DTD and head to EoS for a delicious sandwich and yummy bread pudding :)
