We are going to HH 3/31 for a week for the first time and I am just wondering if I need to book in advance for any of the excursions, like dolphin discovery tour, fishing charter, kayaking (at Disney HHI Resort), as well as tee times for public courses. Any info would be greatly appreciated. TIA

Do not know about golf tee times but there are so many courses to choose from can't see to much of a problem. As far as tours go we booked when we got there without a problem. Friends did the dolphin tour and did not see much as a matter of fact we saw more when we took the kids parasailing @ the docks. Kayak right from the resort no pfoblem there either.

As far as golf tee times is concerned (DH golfs every trip), you can call the resort up to 60 days in advance (actually, it's only 30 days for a couple of courses) and they'll make the tee times for you. Or if you don't really care where you play, you can wait until you get there and make tee times the afternoon before thru "last minute tee times" or something like that (the front desk could probably tell you). I took the Dolphin Tour once by booking the day beforehand, but I find it more exciting when I see the dolphins "in the wild"/unplanned. I've seen them from the back porch of the main lodge, and from the beach at the beach house.

When we saw them on the beach by the beach house, it was amazing how close to the shore they were. Another DISer was there and can verify (I'm really sorry, I forgot the name).

We've never needed advance reservations for any of the programs at the resort - all have had openings while we were at the resort.

We've done Dolphin Tours, fishing tours, kayaking, canoeing and some of the nature programs and had no problem making the arrangements after aRRIVAL at the resort. We've done this both during Spring Break and 4th of July trips.

Enjoy! :)

It is so easy to let the resort book your golf tee times. My DH plays golf a couple of times when we are at HH. I think they will fax over a list of courses and then you can pick. And there is a discount also - hope i'm not fibbing :confused3

There is a member tour of the resort one day. You walk around the resort with a guide and they point out lots of hidden Mickey's and other interesting design feature. I think it was free.

I also did an intro to the island tour the first time we visited (while my DH played golf!!). It was really interesting also and cost about $20.

Enjoy your trip. It is a great place to relax.

We just got back tonight from HHI and we had a wonderful time. It was cold and windy, but still alot of fun. According to the paperwork that they gave us at check in, the dolphin and kayacking excursions just needed a days advance notice. The only thing we ran into trouble on was bike rentals, the resort was down to only 2 and we needed 4. They did have an agreement with a local bike rental business to rent us bikes for the same price as Disney and they would deliver and pick them up at the resort for us. Enjoy your trip. My kids loved it so much that they are begging to go back for vacation this year and I had to remind them that we were going on a DCL cruise this summer and that we might be able to slip in HHI again in the fall or maybe next summer.
