Planning a pregnancy around seasons/holidays

We got pregnant the first week we started trying, with twins no less, so we were very lucky there. They were due in May, but came by emergency c-section one month early on April 23. I love when their b-day is. Spring is a great time to have a baby.

I want to have another one, but dh doesn't :( I want an October baby because my mom and my birthday are one day apart in October and I would love to add another one that line up! :)

AllyandJack said "I would want something to watch on TV and the good shows don't really get going until October"

LOL, I can understand that. I didn't sleep for the entire last month of my pregnancy. I got addicted to QVC because it was the only thing on in the middle of the night and sadly spent way too much time watching the news on Columbine. But I understand wanting something to watch! :teeth:

I wanted to have my DS in the spring so I wouldn't have to be teaching through our "MAP" week. (standardized testing) (sp?) Anyway that was in April. Well that didn't work out but I did get a spring baby. This is a great time for teachers to have babies! You don't have to go back to work until August.

However with my complications, my 1st day of maternity leave was the 1st day of MAP testing!

A close friend just had a baby last Friday. She was so hoping for a 4/4/04 baby! And her daughter was born February 4th, 2002 - for her she was hoping for a 2/2/02. But, with babies, they come when they are ready.

My husband was born on 03-03 and was born at 3:33, so it was kinda cool when he turned 33 on 03-03-03 at 3:33 am.

but I don't really want a child to be born during the winter season since it would be cold.

Being from New Engalnd, I was going to agree with you on this - then I saw that you are from Hawaii!!! How cold could it really be? ;)

I would much rather have a baby in the spring/summer/fall, than in the dead of winter. I'd hate to feel all cooped up in the house all the time. DD #1 was born in late August (being pg through the summer was not as bad as I was afraid of) and DD #2 is due July 1st, so I'll get to have the summer off from work this year.

at this point in my life (i'll be 31 in august) i'll take a baby no matter when it's due! christmas day, 4th of july, or groundhog day!

my brother was a valentine's baby (feb 14), my sister was born the first day of spring, (march 20) and i was born around labor day (aug 31)...

now, my birthday, DH's birthday, and our wedding anniversary are all right in a row...aug 31, sep 7, and sep 10...just our luck, all of our babies will be due at that time!

Yeah, I was thinking about this and I realized that for the first time in a long time I wouldn't have to worry how fat I looked in a swimsuit! :teeth: :wave2:

as I am now looking at the holiday season which is not something that I want because my DH is Dec, 28th and that just is terrible for him every year.

Thats mine and my fathers birthday too. Plus I was due with DS on that day, but ended up having him 12/18. Judging from when I conceived you are right on the mark with a holiday baby if it happens around now. ;) Good luck! Oh and IMO, having a 12/28 birthday isnt so bad so dont worry that the baby would definitely hate it. :D

At first I thought about it, but now I'll take a baby any time it wants to show up!

DH is a Dec. 25th baby, and I know what he went through as a child.

Every month to start trying again is such an excruciating wait, I can't possibly see skipping a month or two just to work around a holiday now.

Like I said, we thought about it before, but now it just isn't something we want to work around.

I never wanted to be hugely pg in the summer. #1 was born in Feb. I was on the couch with m/s the entire summer before he was born.

#2-born in September HUGE all summer
"I'll never do that again."

#3-born at the end of July

With #2 and #3 we started trying early enough to get spring babies but it didn't work out that way. Whenever they are born, it is perfect.

We planned summer babies with all three of our DDs and got our wish -- July 27th, August 7th and September 11th -- although our September baby just barely qualifies as a summer baby. We love to plan one big outdoor birthday party (which also conincides with the time of our annual block party) and invite family and friends who we might not see otherwise at any time of the year. I was just the opposite of most of you -- I didn't want to be pregnant during the dead of winter because I just couldn't imagine trying to scurry around in the cold with my big belly. I didn't mind being pregnant at all in the heat of summer but I suppose our backyard pool may have had something to do with that. :sunny: Anytime they come, they are a blessing.

Exactly - I had bad morning sickness (more like constant, all day, all night sickness) with both of my pregnancies. I'd much rather be in the later stages of pg during the summer than be sick all summer - I just can't imagine going through that awful nausea and vomiting when it's really hot to boot!

now, my birthday, DH's birthday, and our wedding anniversary are all right in a row...aug 31, sep 7, and sep 10...just our luck, all of our babies will be due at that time!

We have a similar situation with birthdays - I'm Aug. 28th, DD is Aug. 29th (missed sharing a birthday by 5 minutes) and DH is September 11th - all within 2 weeks of one another. DD#2 will be the oddball - due July 1st.

When and if the time ever comes that I am blessed with children, I would love them to be born in the summer. I'm going to be teaching, and I'd like to have a few weeks off with my baby without having to worry about my students. :D

I haven't had any kids yet but DH and I were talking about this the other day. We do not want children in February, March or April because we already have so many birthdays in those months that you end up seeing family for 4 weeks straight. Not a completely horrible thing but it gets annoying in April. September is out because we have 6 family birthdays and anniversarys in September!

My SIL said she didn't want summer babies because she was afraid they would never get birthday parties at school. I want summer babies because I like the idea of having big BBQ parties in the summer! Plus we only have 1 summer birthday in the entire family. My brother was born on June 13th.

I never got to plan. Just a plan to try and pray it works and sticks! I have a New Years Day baby and it is a pain, but I'm just so grateful I have her at all I don't care! I just think of all the great after Christmas sales I will be able to hit with her when she's old enough to really be into clothes!;)
