Hi, this will be my first Disney trip. We have tried at times but something always came up. I believe this one will stick! My brother and I (both middle aged) chose mid-December. Can you please advise me on what to expect for crowds and wait times?

I have a little spinal damage and fear standing in long lines. I thought of a wheel chair as an option but want to try doing without.

Thank you for any advice you can offer me.

First couple weeks in December is one of our favorite times to go. Its cool and crowds are relatively low mid week. Weekends are always more busy and the closer you get to Christmas, the more crowded. The last 2 weeks we avoid - even mid week. If you don't want to wait in lines, get to the parks at rope drop and you'll have 10 min or less waits until about 11 am when you will start to see it pick up. Lines should still be small until just after lunch. Use your FP+ in the afternoon and plan shows then too.

The closer you get to Christmas, the more crowded it becomes. So I would focus on earlier in the month. I think basically from 12/18 on, you will run into more crowds and longer lines (and rates go up around then too). The first 2 weeks are really nice. Sort of the calm before the storm. :sunny:

we will be smack dab in the middle. 16th to the 21st. wonder if it's worth trying to push up 2 days?

This is our experience too. We usually go on the Sunday after US Thanksgiving. Very low crowds, little waiting in line and ability to get preferred ADRs.
