Planning a Make-a-wish extension for March 2015

My oldest son wants to do his Make-a-wish trip (he has Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome) during his 10th birthday at the end of February next year. We're a family of 6 and none of us (even us parents) have been to WDW ever. I want to make sure we have enough time to do everything because the logistics of getting us all down there (including his IV pole for tube feedings) is a nightmare. This will likely be our only trip.

Is anyone else here planning an extension of a wish trip? We'll have to transfer from Give Kids the World on the 7th day. We were hoping to give up the car and not need to rent a new one before you return home. (The wish trip only covers 7 days of car rental.)

Do you know if we'll still be able to bypass the lines on the extension of the trip or will we be back to normal line handling? How does that work? I told my son we'd be just like normal on the extension, but I don't really know.

We have four boys - the oldest will be 10 at the time of the trip. The others will be 7.5, 5.5, and almost 2.5.

Any suggestions you could give would be appreciated. We also have food allergies and need to accommodate an IV pole in the room we stay in. The youngest will sleep in a rental crib.

. . . but, not the great treatment of/by GKTW passes
. . . you will be treated like all other DAS pass-holders
. . . you get a time, report, stand in the FP line until ready

How does that work?
. . . usually 5-10 minute lines
. . . but, there have been reports of 15-20 minute lines

as Rusty said GKTW will spoil you, make sure to plan to do some of the activities at GKTW.

I'm sorry, but what is DAS?

DAS is the new Disability Access Service, the program Disney instituted last fall for accommodating disabilities, replacing the former GAC program. There is more information in the first few posts of the "WDW - Disability Access Service (DAS)..." sticky at the top of this forum. You would want to know about this program and how it may help your family for the second half of your trip; the first half you'll be utilizing whatever GKTW and/or MAW provide for your family.

GKTW definately spoils We have so many wonderful memories there. You will love it!!

I don't have any experience with extending the trip but wanted to pass along an idea for his tube feeding. Our son uses a backpack for his tube feedings and we took one of those command hooks with us and were able to hang his backpack on the hook just above his bed therefore we didn't need to take his iv pole. Our son is a 14yr old tubie
